Icon for AT Panel disappears upon reboot on LG V20 & Galaxy Tab S
Today I installed ActionTiles on my Galaxy Tab S, Model Number: SM-T800, Android version: 6.0.1 and I loved how easily it loaded fully synchronized from my LG V20 which is running Android 7. I wanted to see how it reacted to an earlier version of Android. I rebooted my Samsung Tab S to make sure that the Icon was fine. NO, once again that little green horned Android Icon came up instead! Terry and Alex, your ActionTiles actually have a problem. I have over 10 Apps with Icons that were made up from 5 different programs installed on this Tablet that have no problems. I have 2 different Shield K1 Tablets that I use with my Drones thst I thought of trying but they are
new with Android 7. If this is happening to me with different manufacturers and operating systems I'm sure you're just seeing the tip of the iceberg!
But, I love your ActionTiles!!!

Thanks for reporting this issue, Jim;
As discussed, so far there have been no other reports and we cannot replicate the problem. Hopefully other customers who encounter this will contact us via Support or will post a comment and/or this is a problem that the device vendors will fix with a patch to their Android OS customization.
Temperature Icons
Hi -- I'm wondering why in the Builder, the temperature and humidity icons have their respective appropriate icons – but in the panel, they show as battery icons. I attached screenshots as an example.
Thanks.
The icons in screenshots are battery indicators. They show percentage of battery remaining.
There are some enhancement requests to show numeric percentage in addition to/instead of battery icons.
Inconsistent handling of battery capability
I have several battery operated devices that I am monitoring with ActionTiles. Some, like my monoprice door/window sensors (listed a contact sensor in ActionTiles), allow me to specify whether to show the battery icon or the percentage remaining. Others, like the Samsung SmartSense Open/Closed Sensor (listed as a Temperature Measurement, as that's what I'm montioring), show a battery icon and don't give me any ability to change it. Still others, like a custom "radon fan" monitor DTH I created (list as a switch in ActionTiles) don't give the ability to show either an icon or a percentage, even those the battery capability exists and can be monitored in a separate tile. Yet another DTH I created, a water sensor based on a switch (listed as water sensor in ActionTiles) gives me full control over the battery icon and percentage.
In the grand scheme, this isn't a big deal, but I would like to be able to consistently and completely monitor the battery levels of my sensors in my panel. Am I doing something wrong, or is there some inconsistencies in the way the battery capability is currently handled?
Road map or update release dates with possible features?
i recently implemented Action Tiles into my echo system, i personally like the idea of Action Tiles and ease of use.
it seems either ive already out grown its simplicity and am looking for a more mature experience or my home echo system has been in place for awhile and maybe my system just needs more options to help its overall integration growth.
so that leaves me to the question i think many have been asking but either i missed it (my bad if i did) or there isnt a clear answer on the topic other than "not sure of the time table"
so my question is
is there a place i can go to and follow the conversation for any updates that provides some in site to either a road map, info on release cycles, features coming soon, or anything that would help me stay engaged in wanting to continue the platform.
this isn't a complaint but i could see how it may seem that way but it seems there hasn't been an update in awhile and since im new to the site and am already looking for additional options/features to make my dashboard pop instead of having 30 tiles on a page and its all green with no options to change colors that im aware of, ide like to know if i should continue with the hours of time i invest worth it knowing im just waiting for a feature that is said to be released ect ect.
like i said this isnt a complaint but since its a service that i did pay for and is not freeware thats posted on github i thought the question was fair game.
any information that can help me towards an answer would be great, like i said if i did miss the discussion in the forum then i spend a whole lot of time typing this up and i apologize for posting another one :)
Hi Osberto,
We respect your question and appreciate your excitement about the future directions of ActionTiles. This Feedback Forum has given us lots of ideas we never would have come up with on our own - as well as making us feel brilliant about the stuff we have been thinking about for a long time and are getting validation from y'all 😁. Our Facebook Reviews rating stands at over 4.9-Stars and we cannot express enough gratitude for that!
Well: Policies and practices for publication of plans - "roadmaps" - varies from company to company, but many (most?) these days decide to keep them secret, except for meticulously-timed official announcements. For example, consumers aren't told what features are going to be in the iPhone 11, Android Q, the next Amazon Alexa update, new SmartThings Hub or next versions of the SmartThings App.
Of course there are both pros and cons to keeping plans secret. There's plenty of stuff we're planning that might help hesitant trial-users take out their credit cards! But: we have decided that it's best for us and ActionTiles to maximize our flexibility and integrity by not implying any "promises" that later we can't - or decide not to - honor. And a published roadmap is inevitably considered a "promise" by somebody. Security and reliability of the app are paramount. We don't want to rush just to meet a self-imposed published deadline. We decide when a feature is "good-enough" for release, even as we may be internally planning the iterative evolution of that feature in future updates.
So...
- For some additional important info, please see our official relevant Knowledge Base Article: When are Feature Ideas in the Forum going to be implemented?
- Stay tuned to this Feedback Forum, as we are somewhat influenced by popular Topics and that's one way you can get a clue as to what might be coming up. We do mark some Features & Bugs as "Planned" or "In Progress", etc., from time to time when we're confidently in agreement with the Topic.
- Don't forget to Like our Facebook Page. There are plenty of Customers (and the curious) who don't use this Forum, so that's an important communication channel for us. The more Likes we have, the more weight that Facebook gives our promotions: https://www.facebook.com/ActionTiles
- You can also follow us on Twitter (@ActionTiles), Google Plus (+ActionTiles), YouTube (/ActionTiles) ... heck, we also have Instagram and Pinterest and, well, too many channels for me to remember 🙄.
And...
- Please be sure to whitelist "ActionNews@ActionTiles.com" as we will sometimes use this for direct important announcements like major update releases and discounts for you or friends.
- From time to time we send out Surveys to more accurately assess Customers opinions and desires. Prompt and honest responses are super important.
- We have an invitation only continuous "Beta Programme". Invitations are based on Survey responses and other criteria to ensure diversity. We love our Beta Participants, so they get to experience new features a bit in advance - and we give their feedback some extra weight in refining those features.
- Growth is essential. ActionTiles is not a subscription based service: The only way new development can be funded is if we keep getting new Customers. The more the better, of course! You can help by spreading the word to your friends (in person and social media ... FB posts, retweeting, linking to our website in your smart home user groups, asking your favorite tech bloggers to write us up, post your fabulous Panel designs to Instagram and Pinterest tagged @ActionTiles, ...)
- And: Reviews, reviews, reviews!!!: Encouraging enthusiastic endorsements posted to our official Facebook Reviews tab are priceless. You are welcome to include a wish-list item or two in your review, but I'll be clear: Using a positive tone and 4 or 5 Stars is not just appreciated - it is critically and mutually beneficial to all of us.
Everyone is welcome to write to Support@ActionTiles.com with any issue, ideas, or questions. We might sometimes be a little more revealing in private; but, really, we're pretty careful to be fair and stick to our official announcements.
Thanks again!

Cycle through Panels every few minutes
Hello , Can we have a new feature that allows automatic transition between panels, based on time.
So for example every 2 minutes panel changes to your next panel and so on. This way when displayed on a tablet in the home (often wall mounted) you could have a panel for status, one for sensors , camera etc.
Please vote for this one.
Report or display timestamp of last Event for sensors, etc.
I don't need a full event history, but I would like to see a timestamp for the last event. Specifically, the last event for motion sensors and presence sensors.
XBox browser
Hello,
I would like to create a panel to use on my Xbox - that uses a version of edge - but at the login page I cannot trigger the "log in" button.
Any solution?
Garageio
I have a Garageio setup in SmartThings and it functions correctly. Controls Open/Close and tells me status. I'm trying to get it to function on ActionTiles and am only able to get the Open/Closed contact sensor to work. I have an option for Garage Control and an option for Switch. Neither of those options actual trigger the garage to do anything. Any ideas of what could be going on here?
Foreign International Extended Unicode (European, Asian, etc) ÅÄÖ characters not being imported from SmartThings Thing labels
Hi, live in Sweden and have the letters ÅÄÖ in the alphabet. After the last update, these letters appear as a question mark. Can I do anything to fix this myself? Exampel: Vder
Hi Hans,
Thanks for reporting this issue with foreign/extended unicode characters not being imported from SmartThings Thing Labels:
- We are investigating the root cause. It is certainly an undesired and unforeseen effect of our v6.4 SmartApp update Tuesday, but we don't know yet if it is fixable.
- In the meantime, a partial workaround is to use the custom Tile Label option on each affected Tile in each Panel. Use the Tile Settings menu in the Tiles List on the Panel Builder Page.
Thanks,
...Terry.
Support for MQTT IoT Protocol?
Is there any support to read MQTT packets for sensor data?? If not, is there an API I can use to add this functionality?? All my weather sensors report using the MQTT protocol, and it would be nice if AT supported the protocol.
Thanks!
Wattvision Integration
Any chance to integrate Wattvision in the connector? For some reason I can't get it to show as an addable device currently. The Tile/Thing worked fine under under SmartTiles previously. All it does it output power values every minute, and also a graph URL as 'powerContent' (which would be nice to see also, somehow... Potentially in an iframe.) I've included a screenshot of the device and its reports. I'm not sure why it doesn't work with AT as far as I can tell, the device type is so similar to any ST Outlet device I don't see why it shouldn't... But it doesn't show up in the 'authorize devices'. Take little credence with the Inactive Status listed right now in my screenshots... My Rainforest Eagle loves to go up and down when connected to WV.
I'm filing under bugs because I don't see any reason that the device shouldn't be addable right now... But of course I haven't seen the AT code, so I'm unsure why it's not addable.
The Wattvision Manager integration is a standard SmartThings device handler that appears to just make a child device: https://github.com/SmartThingsCommunity/SmartThingsPublic/tree/master/smartapps/smartthings/wattvision-manager.src
Thank you so much for all the work on AT. I will definitely be a subscriber once it's stable!!
Display Sense Home Energy Monitor
Has anyone tried to setup a display of the Sense Home Energy monitor? I know there is no public API yet, it would be nice if they even had a simple JSON API that could be used with shields.io.
ActionTiles not usable on Shard AP02 - "Client is not associated with a SmartApp in Location"
When trying to link my SmartThings location to Action Tiles, I click "Home" in the location drop down box, click authorize and I just get an error saying "Client is not associated with a SmartApp in location Home", whatever that means. Any ideas?
Resolved!
It took a while, but super support from Brad at SmartThings resolved this issue today. 😁
ActionTiles welcomes our Aussie, Kiwi, and Asia-Pacificers who happen to be on the AP02 Shard to dive in!
Thank-you for your understanding while this unique issue was being handled.
Idea: Global City Tile (weather and time local to city...)
Name of city, local time (regardless of my time zone), current weather icon and temperature, forecast hi/lo, sunrise sunset. Searchable by zip code. Custom Label. (i'd like one for where each of my kids live)
Chamberlain garage door
I followed the directions to the T on setting up MyQ with smartthings, and can open/closed the door via the app. What i can't seem to do is pull it into actiontiles. I've added other devices and they come right in. Any ideas what to look for that i may be doing something wrong?

Useful App: Audify for announcements
I just installed the Android app "Audify" on my Nexus 9 tablet that runs my ActionTiles panel. Now whenever I get any SmartThings push notifications, the announcement is made through my tablet's speaker. For now it announces when any of my homes outside doors are opened and also when someone opens my mailbox. You can even cast announcements to all your Google Home speakers.
LANnouncer functions?
I installed a couple "LANnoucer Alerter" devices. I expected to be able to create ActionTiles for STROBE, SIREN, SPEAK, TAKE picture, and TONE.
All I can see for these devices in the builder is IMAGE CAPTURE. (...and that seems to work, but I don't know where those images get stored.)
Thanks for any advice
Amazon Fire and a photo slideshow screensaver?
Apologies if this has been answered before.
My cheap Chinese tablet battery has bit the dust and I can't find another to replace it. So, I'm going to buy an Amazon Fire tablet to run ActionTiles!
My question is: Can I set it up to display a photo slideshow screensaver like I did with the old Windows tablet?
Use Tile background fill to indicate Dim Level
It would be nice to have a "total tile fade" option instead of selecting the small 3:dot on the right side.
If you hold the tile and slide it from left to right (0% to 100%) and selecting the brightness power level.
Here is an example of what I mean. See the tile to the right.
100%
75%
40%
10%
Incorrect % on the tile, but you get the point. :)

Mads
Tablet solar charging
Does anyone have experience charging a tablet with a solar panel in a window? I am mounting a Fire 7 next to my kitchen door and due to the construction of the exterior walls, there is no good way to install an outlet. My thought is getting a solar panel to hang in the window and try to charge like that. I know the power output is decreased when behind glass but I don't know what would be a good quality panel to use.
