Show me your Panels! - Gallery 3 (enhanced Themes)

Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 3 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Sidney 2 days ago 91

Continuing from very popular first 2 Galleries of Panels:

  2. https://support.actiontiles.com/communities/12/topics/4847-show-me-your-panels-gallery-2

Here's a place for Customers to share your Panels and related stories. This content may be copied to other sharing services like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc..

NB: Inquiries about the techniques used to create the particular Panels, frames, etc., may be spun off by the Moderator into new Topics or Help Desk tickets to avoid too much threading here.

More details (Release Notes) about ActionTiles v6.10.0 (enhanced Theme Builder) are at:

https://support.actiontiles.com/communities/12/topics/7072-release-v6100-enhanced-theme-builder-backgrounds-transparency-gradients-minor-touches-fixes

The biggest changes and new Features of this Release are the enhancements made to Theme Builder (and thus, much more powerful customization of Panel Appearance). On a related note, Tiles also have new Animations and Effects options!

I've pasted a snapshot at the end of this Post showing off some of the new Theme Builder.

Be creative - Go Wild!

We have had many Customer requests to allow Panels to be more vibrant, cool, textured, and fabulous. The new options in Theme Builder make this possible. You can use Google to find "wallpaper" library websites - many of which allow hot-linking of the images as a Panel Background Image. Tweak the opacity/transparency value of the Tile Background Color (for each Tile Intention) using the Color Picker, to decide how much of the beautify background to show through. And/or you can strategically use more Blank Tiles as windows to parts of the background, such as the blossoms on a tree branch, or the moons in a fantasy solar system...

Share your Creations, please; as Comments:

Help inspire Customers to dive into the Enhanced Theme Builder. Let us know what wallpaper gallery websites you find attractive. Many of the images on such websites are completely free of restrictions for personal use.

Thousand thanks, everyone. Looking forward to seeing your Panels with just simple bits of flair as well as a few which will surely be incredible works of art. - No pressure! 😉

Panel Background Image refresh

Bob Kerr 3 weeks ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 weeks ago 3

This may have been asked already, but I couldn't find it...

Is it possible to make available the option to refresh a URL based  background image like is available for Still Images Media Tiles?

Ability to set transparency opacity in Theme Colors

Justin Cox 11 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 3 weeks ago 4

Would be nice to be able to control the opacity or transparency of theme colors. For example the "Normal Tile Intention" color clearly has some additional transparency that isn't on other "intention" states. This makes it difficult to achieve the design I'm going for. You could remove that opacity style all-together or even better, add an opacity control to all color pickers.

Additional Intent/Style for Panel Shortcuts (and perhaps others)

JeremyGNJ 4 weeks ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated 4 weeks ago 2

New user here  I just bought a license and was impressed with the Theme options... little did i know they were mostly brand new!

I have one request for theme options:
 A 5th tile "style type" of "link to panel".  Reason is that I want "sub menus" to stand out visually to show that they are "clickable".   A clickable tile shouldn't look the same as an "info" tile.

Share Your Themes Here

Sgni 1 year ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Jim Ray 2 months ago 7

I'm not sure if we should share them as files or as text within the post.
In the interest of making it obvious what's in the bundle of text right off that bat, I'm posting the full text of the themes in the post. Please let me/us know if we should do it the other way.

I call this one "Mint Chocolate"...

{
  "accent-background-color": "#003000",
  "accent-content-color": "#1B5E20",
  "accent-header-color": "#1B5E20",
  "info-background-color": "#160b03",
  "info-content-color": "#795548",
  "info-header-color": "#795548",
  "normal-background-color": "#001000",
  "normal-content-color": "#43A047",
  "normal-header-color": "#005000",
  "panel-background-color": "#000500",
  "tileset-text-color": "#00C853",
  "warn-background-color": "#D50000",
  "warn-content-color": "#FFD600",
  "warn-header-color": "#FFD600"
}

I call this one "Chocolate Cherry", and use it as a night theme...

{
  "accent-background-color": "#200000",
  "accent-content-color": "#400000",
  "accent-header-color": "#500000",
  "info-background-color": "#100000",
  "info-content-color": "#3E2723",
  "info-header-color": "#3E2723",
  "normal-background-color": "#000000",
  "normal-content-color": "#600000",
  "normal-header-color": "#400000",
  "panel-background-color": "#000000",
  "tileset-text-color": "#00C853",
  "warn-background-color": "#D50000",
  "warn-content-color": "#FFD600",
  "warn-header-color": "#FFD600"
}

Note: On both of these, since I haven't actually thought about it much yet, I consider the settings for 'Warn Tile Intent' unfinished, and not a fit with the rest of my themes.

Change all Icons of the same Type at once?

Batman 2 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 months ago 1

Is there a way to mass change icons? I want to change the on and off icons for all my switches, but it's getting tedious to do them all manually. Am I missing an easier way? In themes maybe? I'm not seeing it.

Pictures/Images as Tile Backgrounds

psyctto 2 years ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 months ago 11

Searching around the internet for a more eye pleasing interface to SmartThings, I came across SmartTiles and further a custom dashboard created a few years ago. https://community.smartthings.com/t/my-custom-smarttiles-dashboard/48592

Looks like a nice feature that could add a nice look and feel to the project.  Usability would also improve greatly with nontechy folks that like eye candy and don't want the regular tiles approach.  I know this was previously done in the CSS, which is now gone, but an option to do so again would be great.

Allow creating Custom additional Tile Intentions

Justin Cox 11 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Tomas Smedberg 3 months ago 2

I understand why you guys created tile intentions...makes sense. That said, at the end-of-the-day, it's really just a mechanism to control styling, why not open that up? Allow the creation of tile intentions with styling options and people can create whatever they'd like!

Combine color coding of Elements Theme (based on device type) with Tile color change behavior of Sballoz (based on status)

gfelcamino 3 years ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Orange Bucket 5 months ago 11

I just began setting up my new ActionTiles panel. I was playing around with the different themes and was curious if there is a plan to make a hybrid theme that combines the color coding of "Elements Theme" based on the device type with the icon changing color based on status like "Sballoz Theme" does.

I really like the color coding offered by Elements but the text can be hard to read at the bottom of the tile if the panel isn't right in front of me. Using the Sballoz theme I can mount my panel on a wall and at a glance see if a door is open, a light is one, motion detected, etc. because the tile changes colors from grey to orange.

"No Icon" as a Tile Icon option

Tom Guelker 6 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated 6 months ago 5

I would like to have no icon at all for several things. Only when they are triggered should the icon become visible.

I searched the library using zero and blank and null and none and no icon but found nothing.

Smart Home Monitor (SHM) intention colors

ash stokes 2 years ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 7 months ago 7

Hello,

I think what would be useful with the tile intention options, is for the smart home monitor tile, if disarmed, just display grey (as it currently does), if it's Armed (Stay) it should be yellow (as it currently does), but if it's armed (away) then should be red. The reason being is I've got outside motion sensors e.g. garage connected to the alarm which are rarely gone in and then motion sensors in the main rooms we'd go in if we were home so looking at the dashboard would easily be identifiable by colour to see if smartthings had failed to return the alarm to Home (stay) by geo-location, stopping walking in and setting the alarm off.

Cheers,

Padding, letter spacing and fonts

W_B 8 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 8 months ago 5

I'm new to ActionTiles, researched a bit.. No css customisaton possible!?

I want to have ActionTiles all over my house, but with the design it has now, it's just not pleasant to look at, regardless of colors..

I believe with a few small changes, ActionTiles could have an even bigger user base..

For Example:

Existing design:

New Design:

Changes are:

Font size of clock to smaller

padding-top: 10px;

padding-bottom: 10px;

letterspacing: 2px;

Now it's acceptable for use..

Possibility to change font would make it even better.

In web design spacing of elements are one of the most important things... just saying.

Answer

We currently don't offer an official way to supply custom CSS, however we have plans to enable this functionality.

The current styling of tiles provides a consistent look across all tile types. Since some tiles contain more text than others, sometime loose letter spacing results in inefficient use of tile real estate. We experimented with mixed font sizes at some point, but our user study group has voted against it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While I agree with you that your Clock Tile sample is very attractive, we have to go by the 80/20 rule. Since it's not always possible to come up with absolutely best configuration, we have to select one that works most of the time.

As the product evolves, we will add more customization options to satisfy users who have the finer eye for web design.

Battery Icons in Footers suddenly big on Lock Tiles

Avi 10 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 8 months ago 4

Happy New Year!

As of recent days, the battery icons for locks (and locks only) seem to be gigantic compared to the size expected.  Seems like a style somewhere gone wrong - any advice would be appreciated.  Picture attached.  Using Chrome browser but apparent on others as well.  Thank you.

All Caps option for Tile Status

Is it possible to Capitalized the status font for a tile? If it isn't currently available, I would like to add it to the list for future ideas if enough people agree.

Example:

Lights currently display on/off, I would like them to display On/Off or ON/OFF

Custom CSS Hover & Borders

lanky8804 12 months ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Ed Word 11 months ago 3

Hi

Just getting into AT, have been playing with creating my own theme but very limited. Looking to further customise CSS so can change things like hover colour, border colours etc.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction? Comfortable with HTML and CSS coding.

Thanks

Answer

Hi Alexander,

The theme builder was designed for people who don't like looking under the hood, so it exposes a limited amount of Panel properties.

We are going to enable users to enter custom CSS to override most properties. This feature is coming out reasonably soon, however we don't provide any ETAs. Please stay tuned for release announcements.

Thanks

Alex

Add Tile Intention for Acceleration Sensor

The Tile Intention selection is missing from acceleration sensors. I prefer the "Warn" for my contact sensors and now the acceleration tile doesn't match the others.

Ability to change "intent color" for Routine, Clock, and Nest Dual Thermostat tiles

Andrew Brenner 1 year ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 1 year ago 1

As the title suggests, I'm asking if the developers could please add the capability for me to apply a theme's intent color style to any of the tiles.

Currently, it looks like there's no option to apply anything other than the info style to the routine, clock and Nest thermostat tiles, and this makes me sad.

I'd like to style some routine tiles a different color so that they stand out, but I can't do that now without also applying the same style to the digital clock and nest tiles I also have.

Set Tile active state or color based on thresholds of numeric value or other Attributes

Shawn 2 years ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Dave Mills 1 year ago 24

Any consideration in the future to illuminating the tile(s) based on real time or cumulative energy would be terrific. For example, I use the Aeon Energy Monitor for my well pump system to know when the below ground pump is running or not.

When it is not running, the real time energy is 0 watts. When it is running it is 2540 watts.

If the respective panel had a parameter to set that would illuminate the panel when the real time energy is greater than 2000w, then I would know at a glance the pump is running. I think others may find usefulness in having the panel(s) illuminate for various reasons.

AT has been rock solid here, thanks for an amazing product!

Option to Hide the Value in Tile footers

N Vass 1 year ago in Colors Icons Fonts Themes updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 1 year ago 1

Firstly - Thanks for Action tiles I use it exclusively as my Smartthings front End and I love it!

One thing that would be really nice and I think may quite easy to implement.

  • An option in the Individual tile setup to display or hide the value, In the same way as the option to show a tile header.

Use case:

A Switch. I can clearly see the state of the switch from the color. I don't need to be told 'On' or 'Off' as well.

I use Simulated Indicators to show the state of various things from Webcore and it works well but the 'Open' and 'Closed' is irrelevant and it would be wonderful to have the option to remove it.
