Allow Panel Shortcut to "self" to facilitate consistent layouts

Nashional 2 years ago in Panels (dashboards) • updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 4 days ago 9

For consistency between all pages, please allow to us to add all panel shortcuts to all pages. Right now you can't add the panel you're viewing. So the buttons are inconsistent between pages (the third one is not always Living Room because if you're in Living Room you can't add it).

Thermostat Tile show actual Temperature as main Content

mfdigital1 2 weeks ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated 2 weeks ago 2

When displaying thermostats on tiles action tiles shows temperature setting with large numerals and the actual temperature with very small numerals.  Is there a way, and if not, could a setting be had to reverse the way numbers are displayed. It would be nice to know at a glance what the temperature actually is.

A Panel width Setting to help layout consistency for Panels viewed on different screen sizes

Brent Adam 1 year ago in Panels (dashboards) • updated by Orange Bucket 2 weeks ago 24

I've been using smarttiles/actiontiles for years now and there's a specific functionality that seems super simple to implement, but remains missing...  I'd like to be able to set a maximum panel width, so I can achieve the same flow of tiles on multiple similar sized devices...  it could simply center the tiles on screens with larger resolutions, or could scale tiles +/- ~20% to fit the available resolution of the screen...  for smaller screens, it would still wrap the tiles of one row into 2 or more, but it's just too much to maintain unique panels for each unique display type...  so, for starters, could we at least be able to specify max tile spaces wide for a panel?

Reload / Refresh as a Tile

sec.dom 10 months ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated by Luke C. Ruppersburg, Sr. 3 weeks ago 10

I would have liked the opportunity to have a Tile that would refresh / reload the page. Without relying on the browser's refresh / reload button.

Inside an ActionTiles Panel itself with no Floating Panel Options Button (...). Even a PIN Protected Panel Options button is unnecessary clutter.

This would allow me without having to exit the application that is in full screen mode, to restart Actiontiles when you press commands and the word error appears at the top. When I refresh the page, Actiontiles goes back to work as if nothing had happened. I am using Wink Relay which may explain the errors I'm experiencing, but a Reload Tile is a sufficient solution.

Blank tiles on bottom row causing scroll bar to appear

adamp 11 months ago in Panels (dashboards) • updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 4 weeks ago 3

Having an empty tile on the bottom row is causing a blank extra row to be created on the bottom - thereby causing the vertical scroll bar to appear. I believe it's creating an extra row because the scroll is exactly the amount of a row if there was an extra row. Replacing blank tiles on the bottom row with other tile types resolves the issue. A possible work around would be capturing a black image, and making that media tile 1x1.

Checking the .css - it looks like md-content {overflow: auto} instead of {overflow: hidden} is set from angular-material.min.css. Changing to hidden resolves the issue (although this essentially hides scroll bars - so not sure if that would be ideal for everyone else). Perhaps a future feature would be to provide a toggle to show/hide scroll bars? And on your end if hide is selected, to set overflow: hidden.

Thanks

Capture.PNG

This is what's shown in Chrome on Win10. The panel itself is being displayed on a Fire HD 7 in Fully browser. Though the scroll bar does NOT show within Fully, you can still accidentally swipe up, and the tiles will scroll down since the extra space does exist. All of the other panels are fine, and I guess it's because I don't have any blank tiles in any of the last tile sets.

I've also tried playing around having everything in 1 tile set (e.g. setting the blank tiles to 1x3) - that actually ended up producing more space below the panel.

Thanks.

Dimmer slider, color picker always visible via a special new Tile type?

Nic 2 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 4 weeks ago 27

I apologize if this has been discussed already, I couldn't find an answer. Is it possible to have a dim slider or color picker shown next to the switch all the time instead of having to click the three dots? I think it would be really helpful to be able to simply slide the dimmer without going through a menu.

Thanks for everything!

ActionTiles integrated to my Grafana dashboard

Conrad 4 months ago in Panels (dashboards) • updated 1 month ago 2

I integrated ActionTiles in to my Grafana dashboard. I'm currently just using it for status.

Here's how the dashboard looks like.

This is how the display looks like on the wall. (Note: I didn't have AT integrated at the time I took the photo)

Although I can't turn devices on/off, I still think it turned out pretty cool!

Clock/Timezone Media Workaround, Anyone?

Max R 1 month ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles 0

While we're waiting for a clock tile with [hub]timezone support, I was wondering if anyone's come across a media source for a bitmap/videostreamed clock in any given timezone? All I'm looking for is having a tile display the current Pacific Standard Time no matter where I am in the world. Any suggestions?

Option to temporarily highlight recently changed tiles

DPLyonnais 3 months ago in Panels (dashboards) / Notifications & Sound • updated 1 month ago 11

The ideas that I am submitting has been submitted in the past but was withdrawn with the release of some near-hit styling options that met the need, sort of (see link below).  In my opinion it would be very useful to add a feature that would let you see, at a glance, which tiles have recently changed; either in the form of a short-lived pulse of the tile or a dark-to-normal color fade over n seconds.

It was said in the previous idea that people are not vigilantly watching their dashboards for updates.  Although true I feel that an increasing amount of people will increasingly begin relying on dashboards for security and presence monitoring.  I can think of many situations where this could be useful for events of both low and high priority.  There is a current option to use different colors based on intentions, this would get closer to satisfying the this idea's feature-request if it had a time restriction on when the "warn" color is to be used.  Example - for most of the day I would like my garage's presence sensor to just show me if it is occupied (low priority), but after 10pm if when I am back home it would be a problem if presence was detected (high priority).  Having a dashboard with 30+ tiles I may not see at first glance that a room was just occupied when it should not be.

At night when I am in my office I do monitor outside motion and indoor presence, some would say vigilantly - while concentrating on my work with with my device visible out of the corner of my eye, I notice somethings has changed but takes a bit to figure out what did change and if it matters.  A temporary pulsing or darker-shaded tile would allow to me to look over and then back to my screen without breaking my thoughts or typing rhythm.

Sound Notification for status change of selected Things

CS Home 2 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Notifications & Sound • updated by Luke C. Ruppersburg, Sr. 1 month ago 11

Would be great if each tile can be set to make a sound (from tablet or phone) whenever the status changes. This way, when a door opens or motion sensed, a sound is emitted. Can be set on/off for each tile.

Weather Tile missing main current condition icon

Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 months ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated 1 month ago 4

Due to Weather Underground's change of their API policy and SmartThings not updating their "Smart Weather Tile Device" to be fully compatible, you may find that ActionTiles official Weather Tiles do not display a "primary current condition" icon.

We are investigating...

"Active" Intention for Panel Link Tiles

JB Bentz 1 year ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated 2 months ago 3

Can a Media tile actually do anything, or be a shortcut?  I'd like to set up a navigation UI, using image media tiles, that are clickable, to navigate from one panel to the next.  I was going to edit the graphics so you could tell which panel was "Active" at the time.  Here's a very rudimentary mock up with the first icons I could find.

I started making the tiles and then I realized it was a moot point if they weren't clickable.

As a secondary option, can we assign a panel intention to a shortcut tile?  If that was the case, I could essentially accomplish the same thing, and use the tile intention as the means of telling which panel is displayed.

iFrame Tiles (web page embedding)

It would be nice to be able to display a small iframe "tile" on my panel. For example my access points have apis that allow me to view their status. I'd like to show that on my panel.

ADT ST Security Hub Arm / Disarm

paul_hernandez@me.com 1 year ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated by Shane Trapp 2 months ago 8

Is it possible to arm / disarm (with pin) using the ADT ST Security Hub from a Tileset?

Answer

Hi Paul,

I changed your Question into a "Feature Request": Control of Arm/Disarm (and possibly other SmartThings ADT Security Hub functionality) is not a currently available ActionTiles function.

  • SmartThings has not published an API or any specifications for controlling the ADT Security Hub features.
  • SmartThings Community developers / power-users / hackers have discovered undocumented and unsupported APIs that seem to work.
  • ActionTiles could attempt to use these APIs, but we always hesitate to use unsanctioned hooks.
    • Since it is undocumented the functionality may be unstable and may change or be disabled by SmartThings and/or ADT at any time.
    • As a "Works With SmartThings"™ (WWST) certified app, we might be penalized for using the unsanctioned API, even after putting in the effort, testing it, and rolling it out to our customers.

That said; if there is significant customer interest here ( Topic VOTES! ), we might consider taking the risk: Though, seriously, we would be much more happy if the indication of customer interest convinced SmartThings to officially open the API, or at least grant ActionTiles a formal exception.

Thanks,

...Terry.

Tiles that are 2 rows tall with single row tiles next to them.

Rob Halley 2 months ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 months ago 1

I've been trying to figure out if it is possible and have seen an example on the main page. I'm trying to create a multi row tile that blend with single rows.

my current panel has (3) 3x2 tiles at the top and I'm trying to create two rows of tiles with the 3x2 radar tile at the end of both.

I apologize if I missed this topic in the forum.

All or Multiple Contact Sensors Tile

David Latham 2 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles • updated by Chris79 2 months ago 12

How about a tile that combines multiple contact sensors? On my phone it takes up a lot of space to have a tile for each sensor. Could we have one that says "All doors - closed / Door open". Then if a door is open have a pop up window that lists the open doors.

Another description from Merged Topic:

Would it be possible to add a summary tile, for the purpose of summarizing a bunch of similar devices?

For example - if any open/close sensor (in a specified group of sensors) is open, display an orange tile, else a gray tile. Possibly if you tap on the tile it would take you to a user-defined panel (which the user would have set up up to display the appropriate devices).

I thought about setting up a virtual switch, but I don't see a way to have that switch represent "all windows closed" vs. "any window open".

Another example (more complicated than I need, but might be useful to some) - the average, minimum, and maximum temperatures of a set of temperature sensors.

My rationale - on my main panel I have an "at a glance" section that displays the status of three doors (open/closed) and two doorlocks (locked/unlocked). I have now added 6 window sensors, which would make the "at a glance" be more like a novel.

Thanks.

Send URL shortcut command without opening a new page?

Isaac Bergman 1 year ago in Panels (dashboards) • updated by MaxVonEvil 2 months ago 17

Can you add an option to Shortcut Tiles Settings, so you can execute a URL command in the background without opening a new window?

For example, I have created station preset buttons and volume controls in ActionTiles, but when the URL is sent, the server returns a device/command status response message which I don't care to view, and is annoying since I have to navigate back to the panel via the Android back button.

Perhaps a "Don't open a window" option would do the trick?
