Please add a Tile(s) that can control Plex.
We are not planning on interfacing directly to various non-SmartThings platforms (be it Plex, Wink, Vera, Home Assistant, ...) at this time.
If someone develops a conforming "Media Controller" Device Type Handler for Plex for SmartThings, then ActionTiles's Media Control Tile will interface with it.
I want to suggest a small change, but very important for my future projects.
I want to be able to change the tile status in the footer to a custom WORD status.
e.g.: When a contact sensor reports OPEN, the tile status should show ACTIVE, LIFTED or NOTHING AT ALL. -or- When that contact sensor is CLOSED, the tile status should show INACTIVE, LOCKED or NOTHING AT ALL. Same thing for other sensors.
Please check the picture attached to have a better idea. Please thumbs up in case you guys like the change.
I would like to be able hide a tileset based on whether or not I'm home, or if the home security is in alarm.
I would like to enter a PIN/password to reset the alarm. It would also be nice to have a tileset be view only until a PIN is entered to allow changes.
Hi Everyone - new here but am pretty excited about this App. To me, it seems to smartly tie the Smart Home together. As a newbie, I am very interested in see everyone's creative panels. I would post up first but I don't think a few light switches, a clock and the weather are too interesting.
I would like to see a Panel that will only show Active tiles that changes dynamically based on what tiles are active/on.
Are there any device handlers out there already where ActionTiles will combine a switch (or some other capability) and power meter capability into a single tile?
The context around this is I'm writing an integration that brings over data from a Sense Energy Monitor. It brings over a list of devices along with their current power usage. I'm running a custom handler right now that has switch and power capability, but if there's a standard handler out there I can use that ActionTiles will already combine, I can certainly do that. To got a step further, the most ideal option would be to use a "read-only" type switch or something since there really is no use in being able to toggle the on/off status manually since that does nothing at all (it's a 1-way data flow from Sense).
I realize this may be a bigger conversation around the one-off customization of special tiles like this - I know that requires a lot of extra work, but I figured I'd ask since it seems like it would be cool :-)
To add more clarity, I think what I'm asking is if there's a way the Power Meter capability could be a footer option similar to the way the battery capability is treated now. With my DTH, I've got both "switch" and "power" capabilities on the same device - it would be awesome if AT could just stick the power value as a footer.
Would it be possible to add what would essentially be a tri-state tile to represent a door and its lock?
- Green - door is closed & locked
- Yellow - door is closed & unlocked
- Red - door is open (whether locked or unlocked)
It would save on real-estate on my panel.
It would be nice to be able to display a small iframe "tile" on my panel. For example my access points have apis that allow me to view their status. I'd like to show that on my panel.
HI, I would like to be able top make the PIN pad that pops up when you elect a Pin protected tile to be larger.. Is there any way to do this please?
Is it possible to dial a phone with a tile button press? I would like to have individual tiles for each of my family members. Theory is to press on a family member's picture, and have skype or similar VOIP make the call to the family member and talk through the tablet. Has this been done?
Please try the following:
Create a new Shortcut, enter your phone number like this:
Add a new Shortcut Tile to your Panel.
Under Tile Setting, choose Open shortcut in the same window.
Now, tap the Tile to launch the dialer.
More information (including Skype) in our Knowledge Base: Phone or Skype Dialer Shortcut Tile
It would be awesome if we could change the destination of a tile. For example, adding a tile displaying the current temperature, but change the destination to anything else. Such as a different panel or pops up the thermostat settings, etc. Another idea would be a static icon, that links to a media content (such as showing a simple "CCTV" icon that when clicked opens the full-screen live camera media content. (Instead of showing the live content in the small tile)
I'm looking for a way to get a tile that show the status of all windows/doors as a group so that I know at a glance, when leaving, that I haven't left something open. Sure, I can add 20 tiles and look for the one that is different, but I suspect it would be preferable to have a single tile that basically just tells me that all items are currently closed.
Also, as a complete AT newbie, is there a way (or plans) to nest tiles? In other words, using the example above, I'd see a note that All Windows/Doors Secure is False (color, whatever) and then tap the tile to have it bring up another set of tiles to show me all the windows and doors and a tile to get back to the top.
Have an alexa device connected via bluetooth to my tablet and would like to have a tile that i can push so it plays a pre-program set of songs (via Amazon music, or youtube) and the output will be hear on Alexa
There are many, many, many very good music player Apps available for Android and iOS that can output stream to a linked Bluetooth speaker (such as an Alexa Echo or Dot).
We do not anticipate doing development to replicate capabilities of these fine Apps.
How about a tile that combines multiple contact sensors? On my phone it takes up a lot of space to have a tile for each sensor. Could we have one that says "All doors - closed / Door open". Then if a door is open have a pop up window that lists the open doors.
Another description from Merged Topic:
Would it be possible to add a summary tile, for the purpose of summarizing a bunch of similar devices?
For example - if any open/close sensor (in a specified group of sensors) is open, display an orange tile, else a gray tile. Possibly if you tap on the tile it would take you to a user-defined panel (which the user would have set up up to display the appropriate devices).
I thought about setting up a virtual switch, but I don't see a way to have that switch represent "all windows closed" vs. "any window open".
Another example (more complicated than I need, but might be useful to some) - the average, minimum, and maximum temperatures of a set of temperature sensors.
My rationale - on my main panel I have an "at a glance" section that displays the status of three doors (open/closed) and two doorlocks (locked/unlocked). I have now added 6 window sensors, which would make the "at a glance" be more like a novel.
I have linked to my location and pulled all my devices. I can create a tile for each light and turn off/on but how do I say add two bedroom lights under one tile. so the both turn on/off. I tried creating a routine that says bedroom on and bedroom off but could not get them into actiontile. Im familiar with how to do this in hue and wink, but im lost on this please help.
As of June 2018, I think the best way to control multiple lights with a single Tile is to use a combination of Smart Lighting and a virtual switch.
This is a straight forward and native method that works locally if you want to tie the master switch to other automations.
- In SmartThings mobile app, go to Automations / Add a SmartApp > More > Virtual Device Creator : create a new virtual switch/dimmer.
- Then, go to Add a SmartApp > Lights & Switches > Smart Lighting > New Lighting Automation.
- select devices you want to control
- under "What do you want to do?" select "Mirror Behavior"
- under "Mirror which switch" select the virtual switch that you created in the first step
- Now, the master switch can be added as a Tile.
- If you don't see the newly created virtual switch in your ActionTiles device inventory, in ActionTiles go to My Locations / <Location> and tap SYNCHRONIZE.
Alternatively, if you don't want to create a virtual switch, you may chose to designate one of the devices in the group as the master switch. Using Smart Lighting for grouping lights is the official SmartThings way to handle this use case.
I'm thinking if maybe will be possible to group/combine some sensor info in only 1 Tile, so we can save space for others tiles, and that maybe will help when you have a limit space to add your tiles, like small table or Cell.
For example in my case I have 4 Ecobee Sensor and planing to add more as I like to know the Temperature/Presence inside the house at the room level
Same maybe can be for example same sensor that also give you the Presence in the area were the sensor is located.
For example this is what I have now:
And if we combine those ones can be as below:
Asking if possible as those sensor only provide information, so there is any interaction with then. Also maybe we can have different positions or maybe the tile should/can be larger.
Thanks in advance.
I've got action tiles on my iPad which is amazing when it works. At least once a week I've noticed that when I get up it is displaying "connecting" with the spinning orange icon. I end up needing to delete the bookmark, add the bookmark again, sign back in and it will work for a few days and go back to "connecting". Any solutions if you've ran into this before? Thank you!
ActionTiles has a tolerance of 15 seconds to network outages and should resume operation when Internet connection is restored.. Network outages could be caused by any of the following.
- Internet outage
- WIFI / local network outage
- Power/network management of the client device
Considering that we have no other report of this problem, it looks like this problem is fairly uncommon. I can only attribute it to some far-flung network/hardware issues.
We could add a "refresh" button that would appear when ActionTiles is "connecting", but I'm not sure if it will solve anything if the browser thinks there's no internet.
We also have a feature request to reboot the Panels periodically, we will have to revisit this task,
Please let us know if there's any other information that can help us to resolve this glitch.
There are some notifications (alerts?) that require attention (e.g., water leaks, refrigerator door left open, etc). It'd be nice if those could result in a dialog pop-up window overlayed on the Action Tiles page and would require acknowledgement / dismissal by the user.
(We like this idea and it may be a duplicate, but Votes will automatically be merged if I find relevant similarities.)
In my opinion,:
- A notification window is kind of redundant to the visual indicators of the tiles themselves.
- Notification windows should be an option, not default.
- And if one is displayed, the current length of time that the window is displayed is way too long.
We are planning to put in a preference option to allow the user to disable toast notifications.
Just for info, though: Per Alex (SmartTiles):
The toast notification was put in place for one specific reason: to prevent accidental clicks to remain unnoticed. While this does not solve "pocket dialing" it may help to detect a tap when a swipe or a scroll was intended.
Another important aspect of the toast notification is to confirm if and when a command was actually received by SmartThings. There could be a prolonged network delay, depending on the load on SmartThings cloud, but the toast notification will appear only upon successful completion of the command.
