I've searched for any previous posts about this, but maybe I'm the first to ask about it. I find that hard to believe.
We've got the ability to have the SHM tile, which seems to work well. Within the SmartThings app, SHM lives in a card on my dashboard called "Home Solutions". The other thing that lives in that card is "Smart Locks".
"Smart Locks" is actually really useful..... So, why can't I have a tile for "Smart Locks" in AT like I have for SHM? I just want a single tile that shows if all doors are locked or displays how many are unlocked. If I click it, it should either take me to another panel or perhaps a pop up like the pin pad that lists all of my locks (preferably with a button at the top that I can click to lock all), or check each individual lock on that panel to either lock or unlock separately.
Is Samsung just not allowing access to that function?
I was just wondering how everyone else is adding their music players to ActionTiles.
I am using an app called Echo Speaks that is added to my SmartThings as a Smart App.
I can control the Echo's Play, Stop, Pause, Volume and Skipping.
Right now, I can only control the Volume of the Fire HDs.
The individual Echo Tiles also show up in their respective Room Panels. So when I go into the Living Room Panel, the 'Echo - Living Room' tile is in there as well.
Can you add an option to Shortcut Tiles Settings, so you can execute a URL command in the background without opening a new window?
For example, I have created station preset buttons and volume controls in ActionTiles, but when the URL is sent, the server returns a device/command status response message which I don't care to view, and is annoying since I have to navigate back to the panel via the Android back button.
Perhaps a "Don't open a window" option would do the trick?
If my display is on our Light Monitoring panel, for example, for longer than 20 minutes (configurable), I'd like for my display to redirect back to the Main panel. Bonus points if I can programmatically turn this off (for example, I'd like to create a tile on a page to disable that feature if I truly want to monitor the page longer than the timeout period).
Now that spring is upon us, I find myself redoing all my panels to switch the heating thermostats into cooling thermostats. This process involves adding the cooling thermostats to the panel, arranging them so they are next to the old heating thermostats and then removing the old heating thermostats. For 3 panels. I'll have to do the same thing in reverse in 6 months. Instead, can AT show the heating or cooling thermostat automatically based on the System mode of the thermostat in question? Or add a new "Dynamic Thermostat" tile to keep backward compatibility? Or if that's too difficult, allow an easy toggle in the tile settings to flip it between heating and cooling? The Dual thermostat takes up too much room on my screen to use like this.
I integrated ActionTiles in to my Grafana dashboard. I'm currently just using it for status.
Here's how the dashboard looks like.
This is how the display looks like on the wall. (Note: I didn't have AT integrated at the time I took the photo)
Although I can't turn devices on/off, I still think it turned out pretty cool!
I’d like to arrange the icons on my house plan.
Is it possible update actiontiles to add a back ground image and semitransparent icons?
It will be not easy to arrange the icon exactly on the hose map right position, but feasible.
Samething like this:
I'd like the option to open a Panel Shortcut by clicking on a Sensor / Contact tile.
My example: I have an aggregate simulated contact sensor that shows the status of all my contact sensors. Click on that tile to open a panel with the status of all my contact sensors.
This would save me from having a neighbor panel shortcut tile.
It would be nice to be able to display a small iframe "tile" on my panel. For example my access points have apis that allow me to view their status. I'd like to show that on my panel.
Hi all, just wanted to know if I'm overlooking the obvious, there's a neat trick to this -or perhaps it's a backlog item.
A picture says more than a bunch of words. This is what I'm trying to do:
It should be said that the screen size may be wider than what the screenshot shows. Second, each row of tiles is currently defined as an individual tile set. Not sure if that's the right way to go about it, or I'll have to McGyver it with a bunch of blank tiles to make the tiles fall into place. Any suggestions?
How about a tile that combines multiple contact sensors? On my phone it takes up a lot of space to have a tile for each sensor. Could we have one that says "All doors - closed / Door open". Then if a door is open have a pop up window that lists the open doors.
Another description from Merged Topic:
Would it be possible to add a summary tile, for the purpose of summarizing a bunch of similar devices?
For example - if any open/close sensor (in a specified group of sensors) is open, display an orange tile, else a gray tile. Possibly if you tap on the tile it would take you to a user-defined panel (which the user would have set up up to display the appropriate devices).
I thought about setting up a virtual switch, but I don't see a way to have that switch represent "all windows closed" vs. "any window open".
Another example (more complicated than I need, but might be useful to some) - the average, minimum, and maximum temperatures of a set of temperature sensors.
My rationale - on my main panel I have an "at a glance" section that displays the status of three doors (open/closed) and two doorlocks (locked/unlocked). I have now added 6 window sensors, which would make the "at a glance" be more like a novel.
I have created this Topic as a home base to discuss this Feature Request Idea which has been coming up a few times on the Forum and Helpdesk.
- The SmartThings App offers a "Recently" tab when you look at the detail of a Thing or a Room.
- SmartTiles has an "Event History" Tile which listed activity (status change) events for all Tiles on the entire Dashboard in a single list, ordered most recent to oldest.
- SmartTiles allows developers to pull at most 7 days of activity history directly from their Cloud.
- ActionTiles launched without this feature.
Why not already in ActionTiles?
- One major factor in prioritizing what Features to offer at launch date was feedback from our tremendously helpful and valuable Beta testers. They used the product for months ... longer than we anticipated, since we found their ideas and recommendations to be compelling enough to implement some of them before launch.
- Beta Participants have a private section of the Forum where they opened and discussed Idea and Bug Topics. We also sent out individual polls.
- Event History was among the lowest popularity of all Feature requests.
- They are a diverse enough group that we weight their opinions highly. This open ActionTiles Support & Ideas forum will bring us even more information to help prioritize.
What's the Current Plan?
- We recognize that this feature may be "under-requested" at the present time, and yet would be highly valued by some customers.
- Like every feature, it presents some challenges to implement. There are lots of design decisions to consider... We are already brainstorming!
- When we're ready, we'll start with something basic, and then add enhancements based on your feedback.
- Let's start by using this Topic to capture your Topic Votes and an open discussion of how you would personally use and value activity event history feature(s).
Is there any way to create a custom 'virtual' button/switch that can be tied to a different action? My example is primarily for use with IFTTT. If ActionTiles had a button action (pressed) or switch (on/off) I could add arm/disarm of ARLO and other smart integrations.
I've been using smarttiles/actiontiles for years now and there's a specific functionality that seems super simple to implement, but remains missing... I'd like to be able to set a maximum panel width, so I can achieve the same flow of tiles on multiple similar sized devices... it could simply center the tiles on screens with larger resolutions, or could scale tiles +/- ~20% to fit the available resolution of the screen... for smaller screens, it would still wrap the tiles of one row into 2 or more, but it's just too much to maintain unique panels for each unique display type... so, for starters, could we at least be able to specify max tile spaces wide for a panel?
One thing I can't seem to find. With a typical alarm panel when a zone goes into alarm it will flash on the keypad what zone is in alarm. So you know where "the bad guys are". How do I probably bring up a new panel with the zone large that is in alarm when the alarm triggers?
Hi all, I might be overlooking the obvious, yet here goes.
I have several virtual switches configured in ST for various purposes. One such vswitch is controlled by a Webcore piston monitoring the Watt usage on a smartplug: If said appliance is using more than X watts, turn v.switch on and vice versa.
While said v.switch is used for other logic elsewhere, I'd like to display the status of the switch, much like a contact sensor in ActionTiles. That way it just displays as ON/OFF, yet can't be inadvertently toggled by the Mugglers around the house.
Any ideas for a workaround, or is this something worthy of a feature request? Thanks.
You have a few options:
- Use Switch Tiles, but add PIN Protection to them so that they can't be accidentally toggled.
- or Modify your Virtual Switch DTH to also claim Capability "Contact Sensor" and have it concurrently send an "open" event whenever the switch is toggled "on", and "closed" when the switch turned "off".
This Virtual Sensor will now offer Tiles of type Switch and type Contact Sensor.
