2x2 tile across 2 tilesets

Shewfera 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 2

Hello all,

New to smartthings & actiontiles, recently migrated over from wink.

Now, i know theres ways to do this because i've seen it in the show me your panels posts, however i cant seem to figure it out.

How does one go about getting a 2x2 o 3x3 tile, to cross tilesets a sit nicely with the other tiles around it. basically i want a 2x2 inset in 2 rows of 1x1 tiles. similar to Venice weather tile in this one.

Thanks!

6Within a Tileset, tiles go from left-to-right, top-to-bottom, filling in the spaces of the next row if there are any spaces created by double or triple height Tiles.

But there is no way to force a row-wrap within a Tileset except to use sufficient Blank Tiles.

So to achieve similar to the above Panel image, try the following (I'm not even going to test it, 'cuz I want to see if I'm guessing and describing right off the top of my head...)

Width x Height:

  • 2 x 1
  • 2 x 2
  • blank
  • more blanks exactly sufficient to use up the rest of the Row
  • 2 x 1
  • blank

Does that work?

Ability to Show/Hide Status in Footer

John Munoz 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1

It would be useful to be able to hide the title status on some panels that are mostly graphical.  Instead of showing Open/Closed with the matching icons, just have the icon displayed for a cleaner panel.

Hide fan controls for Thermostats on heating systems with no fans

Glenn Smith 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 9

In the uk our heating is just that, we don't have the fans and cooling like the US. it would be nice if the interface was tidied up to hide the 'fan disabled' and the pop up which has controls for it.

Auto Hide Smart Home Monitor Selection Window

Major Nelson 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 2

When you select the SHM Tile a popup window appear at the bottom with the selection Away, Home, Disarm.

Once a selection is made, it would be great to have the window automaticaly disappear.

As it stand now, the window remain active until you either click the X or anywhere else outside the window.

    Answer

    Hi,

The popup window is currently set to automatically close 30 seconds after the last tap.

The upcoming update includes major redesign of the popups, so you concern will certainly be addressed.

Is there a URL for a specific Tile action?

Alex 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated 6 years ago 4

Hi folks - I use Launcher to automate / launch different apps and thing on my iOS devices, I was wondering if there's a way to "click" a momentary contact switch that lives on one of my panels.

For example, my garage door opener button.  Right now, I'd unlock the phone, click my ActionTiles panel icon (which opens Safari in full screen) and click the button to open the door.

What I'd like to be able to do, is using Launcher, from a Notification Center widget, click the button on the widget that would in turn click the button on the tile.

Ignoring the obvious security implications, I really just wanted to see if it would work, or if there's a better solution.

Thoughts?  Thanks for a killer app and product!

    Blank tile colors

Bergstrom, Gunnar 8 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Orange Bucket 6 years ago 3 1 duplicate

Can you please add options to the Blank tiles so the user can set colors to any of the colors used by Action Tiles. This would give the user some flexibility in filling in the black spaces when using the Elements theme.

Return to Favorite Panel or top of Panel upon timeout

Don Baldaccini 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by RonV42 6 years ago 5

I just started using AT and it's really fantastic. I am currently running it on a Galaxy phone and I was trying 3x3 size tiles which are great for the clock and a radar feed. When all the tiles don't fit on the display you have to swipe up or down to see them all. It would be great if you could have a setting that lets say after xx seconds of inactivity it swipes itself up or down to fully display the clock and radar feed or whatever you want to see as large as possible. Two 3x3 tiles display perfectly on the Galaxy phone in landscape position.

    Guest Mode enables panel?

LaNeve Home 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Sharing updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1

Is there a way to enable a panel only while smartthings is in a certain mode. For example, we have the same guests come stay with us frequently. I'd like to create a panel for them to use when they are here but not let them screw with our stuff when not here.

One simple thing I thought of, would be to create a panel that has specific things for them (they don't need everything), but their guest accounts only work if the house is in "guest Mode". This way I don't need to activate their guest accounts every few weeks when they visit, and deactivate when they leave. All I need to do is set the smartthings mode to Guest Mode and then the panel works.   When they leave I switch to a different mode on smartthings and their panel doesn't work.

Is there a way to do this?

    PIN input UI is slow

Derrick Ho 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 15 1 duplicate

the PIn UI can be improved.  It is currently not possible to enter a pin fast so it feels quite laggy.  I literally have to wait 0.5 - 1 second between button presses which is annoying.

Also because the pin ui only shows digits it is difficult to guess where the hit boxes begin and end.

Using Shortcuts to open other smart home / smart device Apps?

Is there a way to add links to other programs not controlled by SmartThings app? Example "Rain Machine" (irrigation), "IControlAV5" (Pionner AVR), "Iqualink" (pool automation lighting) among others.

Can Shortcuts be used to run these?

Make Tile click result Toast notifications optional

    In my opinion,:

    • A notification window is kind of redundant to the visual indicators of the tiles themselves.
    • Notification windows should be an option, not default.
    • And if one is displayed, the current length of time that the window is displayed is way too long.
    Answer

We are planning to put in a preference option to allow the user to disable toast notifications.

Just for info, though: Per Alex (SmartTiles):

The toast notification was put in place for one specific reason: to prevent accidental clicks to remain unnoticed. While this does not solve "pocket dialing" it may help to detect a tap when a swipe or a scroll was intended.

Another important aspect of the toast notification is to confirm if and when a command was actually received by SmartThings. There could be a prolonged network delay, depending on the load on SmartThings cloud, but the toast notification will appear only upon successful completion of the command.

Switch Panel at time of day

This can easily be done with Fully's rest interface and webcore sending a web POST request to the tablet running fully browser. I have a similar setup to run a certain panel on the weekends and revert back on weekdays.

    Requirements:

    Static IP for tablet

    Fully plus license

    Remote admin enabled on fully

    WebCore

Calling Skype person by Shortcut Tile?

Patrick McCabe 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 3

I used the suggestion of the example to call someone by creating a Shortcut using the string below:

But it doesn't call the person, it just opens up Skype. Is there a setting in Skype to force it to call the username I put in the string.

    Thanks

Slide or Swipe into next Panel (like Windows 8/10 active tiles)

Peter 8 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1 1 duplicate

Would be cool if the interface behaved like windows 8.1/10 metro style..... where you swipe left or right and it slides to another page/panel. You could set up each page as a panel, room etc.

    Answer

I am not sure if it practical for us to support slide-in Panels or a Swipe gesture consistently in various browsers.

Supporting multiple "concurrently loaded" Panels via a tabbed interface has been requested. We might be able to introduce a header bar feature that could contain convenient access to selected list of your Panels.

In the meantime, please place Panel Shortcut Tiles wherever you wish to locate them for the most possible current convenience.

Alternate text for tile item name

mjg 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 2

Is there a way to have an "Alt tag" type of setting for devices?  Some of my device names are fairly long to help me identify them in other apps/scripting - for example "Window_KitchenNook."  Names like this are causing overlap on my panel.  I'm wondering if there is a way to have it display a different name on the panel?

Combined Door Contact & Lock Tile

mthomas98027 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1

Would it be possible to add what would essentially be a tri-state tile to represent a door and its lock?

    • Green - door is closed & locked
    • Yellow - door is closed & unlocked
    • Red - door is open (whether locked or unlocked)

It would save on real-estate on my panel.

    Thanks.

    Phone Dialer and/or Skype Tile?

Nick Miller 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1

Is it possible to dial a phone with a tile button press?  I would like to have individual tiles for each of my family members.  Theory is to press on a family member's picture, and have skype or similar VOIP make the call to the family member and talk through the tablet.  Has this been done?

    Answer

    Hi Nick,

    Please try the following:

Create a new Shortcut, enter your phone number like this:

    tel:+1-555-555-5555

Add a new Shortcut Tile to your Panel.

Under Tile Setting, choose Open shortcut in the same window.

Now, tap the Tile to launch the dialer.

Ways to get State of many Sensors in one Tile?

Agrajag 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 1

I'm looking for a way to get a tile that show the status of all windows/doors as a group so that I know at a glance, when leaving, that I haven't left something open. Sure, I can add 20 tiles and look for the one that is different, but I suspect it would be preferable to have a single tile that basically just tells me that all items are currently closed.

Also, as a complete AT newbie, is there a way (or plans) to nest tiles? In other words, using the example above, I'd see a note that All Windows/Doors Secure is False (color, whatever) and then tap the tile to have it bring up another set of tiles to show me all the windows and doors and a tile to get back to the top.

Add a music tile and use the tablet speakers as the output...

Have an alexa device connected via bluetooth to my tablet and would like to have a tile that i can push so it plays a pre-program set of songs (via Amazon music, or youtube) and the output will be hear on Alexa

    Answer

    Hi Diego,

There are many, many, many very good music player Apps available for Android and iOS that can output stream to a linked Bluetooth speaker (such as an Alexa Echo or Dot).

We do not anticipate doing development to replicate capabilities of these fine Apps.

    Thank-you,

    ...Terry.
