Homescreen widget

Haden Cruickshank 8 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by KamHouse 5 years ago 7

Has anyone found a good app that will allow ActionTiles to display on the android homescreen as a widget? I tried one called Web Widget but it wouldn't auto log me in (and wouldn't bring up a keyboard to do so anyway!)

Please update Google Chrome...

Nick Marques 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Android updated by KamHouse 5 years ago 6

Hi all,

I just did a clean install (rooted!) of a Fire 7 (austin) tablet that I've been running for a couple years now. I installed Fully Kiosk Browser and when I go to the Action Tiles panel, I am getting a "Please update Google Chrome..." message. Is this message coming from AT or from FKB? Any fix?

Is there a way for the Presence detector to update via wireless name connection

David Lucas 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated 5 years ago 2

As per the title really,

Is there a way for smarthings to update my location / presence by when my phone connects to my home wireless network rather than geo location.

Just that the geo fencing's smallest radius will pick up when I leave home then when I drive up past it it thinks im back home then i'm away again till I drive behind house on dual carriage way and it thinks im back home then away again.

Be much better if when I arrive home and phone connects to wifi that it then alerts i'm home.

Actiontiles on Samsung Gear S2

Jer Granzy 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 1

I have an old Samsung Gear S2 watch and was looking for a way to get smartthings control on it. Samsung does not have an app in the Galaxy Wear store for the S2, so I found a browser and created a link to actiltiles.

For those that may be interested, the Browser app is called WebBrowser. You need to go to the panel you wish to access on a regular web browser and copy the link and re-type it all into the watch browser (pain I know) then set it as the homepage.

Problems viewing video URLs on Android phone

BamBam 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Android updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 5

I am having a problem that I don't know how to solve.  I have two cameras, a WyzeCam and an Amcrest.  The RTSP feed from both cameras are being fed into TinyCam.  From there I am viewing them in the ActionTiles media tiles.  It all works well as long as I am using an IOS device, iPhone or iPad.  What I can not do is view them in ActionTiles on my Android (Samsung S8) phone.  All I see is the grey box with the little green icon in the upper left corner.  From the reading that I have done, the problem is usually the browser, being that it doesn't support what ever stream is giving the problem.  I started with the Samsung browser.  If I copy the failed URL from ActionTiles on the S8 into the Samsung browser address line, it works fine, I can see the video with no problems.  Next I downloaded Microsoft Edge and got the same result.  The URL works fine from the browser address line but all I get from ActionTiles is a grey box with the same URL.  And, yes, it is the same URL.  I use copy/paste and not just re-typing.  Also, in Actiontiles on the S8, the URL never shows as a valid URL in the media tile settings.  I would appreciate any help you have to offer.  Thanks

Pixel jittering on Fully Kiosk

Toby 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by Lee Goldstein 5 years ago 3

Im using actiontiles through fully kiosk on Fire 8, but there is some jiterring pixel around some of the tiles edges and icon. It does not seem to be a problem with Chrome browser. Have any experienced this before and what is the fix?

Can't see cameras on Fire HD8 using //user:password@address

Simon Wilson 6 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Amazon Fire updated by Won Suk Ro 5 years ago 2

OK, so I m a new user to both AT and FK on the HD8. I have crested a peel that displays fine on my iPad, bu for some reason the camera will not show on the HD8.

The camera is a D-Link DCS932LB and the string I am using is http://admin:password@192.168.10.11/mjpeg.cgi. I also tried encoding the username and password to base64 http://192.168.10.11/mjpeg.cgi?auth=xxxxxxxxx

I think it might be an authentication problem, although I know the password is correct.

Ideas?

Kindle Fire tablet 8 Battery draining while plugged in

Mike Glen Ellyn 6 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Amazon Fire updated by dantheman 5 years ago 7

I have a new Kindle fire tablet 8 with Action tiles and Fully Kiosk browser running.

I have it mounted on a kitchen cabinet and the cable is running to a power strip in the cupboard.

The battery drains throughout the day and gives me a battery warning.

Any ideas? Is it the cable? I'm using one that was suggested  with a right angle connection to fit in the frame.

Blackberry playbook stop presenting the actiontiles app

Juval 6 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 2

A month ago, my 2 Blackberry playbook tablets stop presenting (having access) to the actiontiles app. At the beginning I thought that the problem is related to the old units (wifi issue), but only today when I had the time to look at it, I have found that the WiFi is OK and I can browse other sites, including www.actiontiles.com.

I have checked it on a few browsers - but w/o any success.

1. Was there any security update (around a month + ago), that preventing from the Blackberry playbook tablet to connect to the app ? (Knowing that this tablet is working on an old OS - I think it is equal to Android 2.5) .

2. Is their anyway I can still use them with your app ? any recommendations ?

Thanks

Ultra slim micro USB cable for wall mounted tablet

Jonathan D. 7 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 22

Does anyone know if a thin micro USB cable, such as those used on Qi wireless charging receivers, exists? (see photo). On the Qi charger it connects directly to a charging pad. What I would be looking for would be one that ends in a USB connector. Is this even possible?

I feel like this  would be an ideal solution for a wall mounted tablet without a big case to hide the cord. I know there are low profile cables, but they still would stick out farther than I'd prefer. This cable/ribbon would be almost flush with the side of a tablet and wrap around the back to go into a recessed outlet with a charging block or a USB/outlet.

Worth loading Lineage OS?

mikestguy11 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Amazon Fire updated 5 years ago 5

I just bought the HD 8 on sale for like $59 or so, its the kind with amazon ads, i am hoping they dont mess with actiontiles at all! do they?

Also, are most people not loading android like lineage os on these things? it seems the hardware was cracked w/ a cpu exploit and you can load unlocked android on to these things for a while now and it seems like its quite stable?

if so, are there performance gains from removing amazon crap/bloat/os and loading stock android w/ lineage os? any downsides/upsides?

it seems most use fully kiosk browser w/ android fire os, so maybe its pointless? thx

Good news, I was able to load lineage 16 on the Fire HD 8 with no opening it at all.  Its android 9 Pie and its running really well so far.  The only issue with 16 is the front facing camera doesnt work but I think it does with version 14 so if you  want motion detection you can use that.

based on the eye test it seems a lot faster, less bloat really makes a difference.  action tiles runs great so far with dakboard screensaver w/ fully.

No lock screen issues!  very nice for $59!!!

Fully/AT - Return to Fully from Android App

nosbisch home 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Amazon Fire updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 1

I am trying to find a way to consistently return to the Fully browser on my Fire 7 HD. I have Fully setup such that the home button should always use the default start-up URL...but it isn't consistent. Say I launch from Fully into Spotify via an URL tile. If I hit the Android home button, sometimes it goes back to Fully, sometimes I have to hit it many times, sometimes it won't return to fully at all until I navigate around Spotify for a bit. Since the Fully action bar disappears with android apps, just trying to find a way to get back that "always" works. Any suggestions?

I should note that if I stay within Fully, say I navigate to a sub-panel, the Android home button will return to my main panel.

How do you charge your wall tablet?

Robert Sexton 5 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones updated by Kevin1 5 years ago 1

Hey all, I'm looking for insight on how to charge my tablet (Fire HD 10) that I have mounted on my wall. It is mounted on the wall next to my Ecobee3 thermostat on the second floor of my house. Currently, I have a 10' USB extension cable running up inside the wall powered by a 18W usb charger. The USB extension hooks up to the micro USB cable that comes through the wall and plugs into the tablet. Unfortunately, this is not enough power to keep the tablet charged while running Fully Kiosk with a Dakboard screensaver. Brightness is set at ~20%. Is this just an issue with the tablet not being able to charge as fast as it uses power, or am I not delivering enough power? Is it a distance or cable issue? Should I get a 10ft 3.1 micro USB cable and see if that would deliver enough power? 10ft would be enough to reach the tablet

To expand further, should I look at replacing the USB cable with something else? The thermostat has 24VAC, but I would rather not mess with that wiring. Additionally, I'm not sure running a loose 120V cable in the wall would be good either. Would there be other low voltage options? TIA!

Which Android tablets people recommend for price and functionality?

Josh Fink 8 years ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Android updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 43 3 duplicates

I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest tablet but one that works well and is configurable. Preferably one I can root but if it's not needed then all the better.

I think I have a relatively straightforward use case.

  • I want to mount a couple around the house and have 1 or 2 in bedrooms.
  • I would like the screen to go as dim as possible until it senses motion or it's picked up.
  • Obviously needs to run AT and I would prefer it to boot directly into it if possible.

My goal is to make it as easy as possible for someone to pick up and use or go to the wall and use. If for some reason it needs to be rebooted or updated and it's turned back on that it goes directly into AT so that I then don't need to provide tech support.

Thanks

We have deployed fixes for this issue. Please reload / refresh your browsers.

Core functionality should now work for most browsers which were previously working in v6.9.4.

Those who were affected may still encounter some minor compatibility issues which we will track for possible fixes.
