mjpeg video laggy from Foscam with tinyCam

Zvika 6 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 3

Here is my situation :
I have Fosacm fi9821W that support mjpeg stream, I use tiny cam pro as my center place for all my cameras (currently only one though but going to add 3 more).
I created 2 media shortcuts on AT
direct link to foscam mjpeg stream (http://10.XX.XX.XX:88/cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=XXX&pwd=XXX)

link to tiny cam pro that shows the foscam camera .(http://10.XX.XX.XX:8083/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?camera=1&user=XXX&pwd=XXX)

The video from the link to tiny cam is laggy while the direct link is good .

When seeing the stream in tiny cam app there is no lag and I get great video.

Not sure how to debug this and what can cause this laggy video.

Any Ideas ?

Hi Zvika,

Since you have Foscam model which directly supports MJPEG stream address, why are you not using that direct stream address in ActionTiles?

The video lags because tinyCam Monitor Pro has to do a lot of processing to recode the video (even from MJPEG to MJPEG) and server it through it's built-in webserver.

MJPEG is a very inefficient format. It is convenient because it is supported by all browsers, but ... inefficient.

Thanks for the reply ,
I want one point where all my cameras will be .(so I will be able to manage all from one place and use tiny cam great features )
I bought  Foscam G4 which does not support mjpeg but tiny cam support it  .

From what you are saying if I will have stronger device to put tiny cam on it will fix the laggy video ?

A stronger Android server for tinyCam will help; but even better to use Blue Iris or similar.
