"Active" Intention for Panel Link Tiles

JB Bentz 6 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated 5 years ago 3

Can a Media tile actually do anything, or be a shortcut?  I'd like to set up a navigation UI, using image media tiles, that are clickable, to navigate from one panel to the next.  I was going to edit the graphics so you could tell which panel was "Active" at the time.  Here's a very rudimentary mock up with the first icons I could find.

I started making the tiles and then I realized it was a moot point if they weren't clickable.

As a secondary option, can we assign a panel intention to a shortcut tile?  If that was the case, I could essentially accomplish the same thing, and use the tile intention as the means of telling which panel is displayed.

Another quick point.  If you use panel shortcut tiles, it isn't possible to create one for the panel you are currently on, which would screw up the concept of having the consistent navigation header.

So in order to make it work, it would require 2 changes:

1. the ability to change Tile Intention for Panel Shortcuts

2. the ability to make a panel shortcut for the current panel.

A possible workaround is to create a URL shortcut, rather than a Panel shortcut to the current panel. You can choose a suitable icon for that shortcut.

Ability to set Tile Intentions for shortcut tiles is a planned feature. I will also add to my list to remove the filter to allow you to create a shortcut to the current panel.

We will also add more customization options for Shortcut Tiles, including setting a background image. These things are in the works with different priorities. We usually don't provide ETAs, unless we are pretty certain.

Thanks

Thanks Alex.  This would make the navigation UX between multiple panels a lot more consistent.  I'll keep an eye out for updates.
