Command "tap" History with Panel & Account logged

Erin775 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Event History updated 7 years ago 2

I see a major use in event history. If I share a panel to enable my gardener to switch the Smart Home Monitor on/off I would like to be able to see either the user or otherwise the specific panel that was used to switch the SHM on/off.

The user information in the log on SmartThings does not seem to identify the specific user.

Howdy Erin,

I separated this out from the general Activity Event History Topic, into a distinct Feature Request, because:

  • Your request encapsulates a unique value proposition that even SmartThings doesn't offer. For example, there is no way in SmartThings to determine which user initiated a command; including from which phone or tablet they are running the SmartThings App on, its IP address, or anything like that.
  • The Panel Sharing feature & structure of ActionTiles makes your request possible to a certain degree.
  • While the way we offer presentation of the Event Log may end up being the same for both ActionTiles and non-ActionTiles initiated events or commands, the data comes from two distinct sources.

Thanks for the idea! Enjoy the discussion...

Thank you, Terry! I understand the limitations are mainly imposed by SmartThings. Given the fact that with ActionTiles you can limit the access to specific devices, use view-only and even PIN-code protection, I hope that ST picks up on this and develops options to see which users (or panels) are connected to events. It would greatly improve sharing of access with different types of users !

In the meanwhile, if anyone here knows of a work-around, I´m all ears.
