Tiles for Back to Previous Panel and Jump to Favorite Panel

59wglane 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by BartLanz 7 years ago 12 1 duplicate

I have panels created for various rooms, That group the same devices in that room together, would be great to have a tile/button that u could add as a "back" or shortcut back to your favourite panel

I know that there is already the option in the over-flow menu to go to the 'My Panels' page.

What I want (I think covered by Terry's comment above; so, thank you, Terry for recognizing this fact) is a 'Tile' that points there.

i.e. I want to have a Tile that goes there, so I can click it from any Panel I'm on, and get there quickly, without having to open the over-flow menu to get to it, please!

I would personally like a link to go back to the My Panels page (i.e., list of all Panels), if I may extend this Feature Request. Thanks!

@59wglane,

Please check the option to jump to the favorite (starred) panel from any panel when you open the tripple-dot menu (. . .)

@Sgni,

The option to jump back to the list of panels is under the same menu too.

Alex, it may have been lost-in-translation somewhere, but:

Now that we offer the "Hide in-Panel (...) Menu" Settings Option, the jump to Favorite and My Panels will not be available if that option is selected.

Thus, this Topic's request is for Special Tiles for this purpose.

Can you not add the ability to add a Next and a Back Tile that has icons with a right / left arrow and the url or the name of the panel can be inserted so that one could navigate back and forth through different panels? This would look so much more visually appealing on a dashboard.

One can certainly add a Panel Shortcut tile and change it's icon to back, forth, or star, etc. Add Panel Shortcut tile in the Panel Builder, Icon selection is available in the Panel Builder > Tile Settings.

What the OP is asking for can already be achieved with Panel Shortcut Tiles, I believe.

I will add the feature to add My Panels Tile to my to-do list.

Not exactly...

  1. If all that is needed is a Panel Shortcut Tile to the "Favorite" Dashboard, that's a static Panel Tile which works fine, unless the Favorite is changed, in which case, all the referencing Tiles need to be manually updated.
  2. Let's consider that this Topic is expanded per Sgni's request, too, please.
  3. That means it would be valuable to add true "Back" and "Forward" and "Favorite" Tiles. This means that the target Panels do not need to have explicit Panel Shortcut Tiles for every various Panel that they may originate from. So this is the "new Feature" being requested.
  4. #3 was originally requested in Beta and I merged into this Topic; well... 'cuz it fits, and we need to have fewer Topics if possible. Not obligated to implement it in one shot though.

Thanks,

...Terry.

@Terry
Thanks for modifying my post so I don't sound like a whiny little 81+@#....even if that's actually what I am lol

When I was setting up my panels I wanted this. I achieved it by creating a Panel Shortcut, I then renamed the Panel Shortcut to Back and changed its logo to <

Just noticed I messed up one of my lights... off to fix that. Thank you for the awesome product!

You can see the importance of being able to navigate "back" easily from a  Sub-panel (hiearchical navigation) --> and this needs to be a built in feature NOT a URL button (will not work in general and has terrible cosmetics)
