Action buttons not working anymore on iPad 2nd gen

SneakX 1 year ago in Browsers Tablets Phones / Apple updated by Feliz Lalof 1 year ago 3

Hi,

Been using ActionTiles for years on an old 2nd gen iPad as a weather station and lights control unit.

Since about a week the action buttons (dim lights, shut down lights, etc) are not functioning. Did something recently change in the software, I thought that the iPad 2 with Safari was supported (can’t install nothing else with the old iOS 9.x on it unfortunately).

Thanks.

Some ActionTiles users with Apple devices running iOS 9.3.5 reported issues with Tiles not responding to touch events.
These devices are now over a decade old. Apple ended update support for iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad Mini 1 models in September 2016, making them effectively obsolete.

The current Apple development tools do not even allow debugging applications running on the above devices.
We were able to identify the issue essentially by luck. That particular issue should now be resolved. Please let me know if something is still not working.

Please note that we made the decision to update the minimum system requirement to support devices that are current in 2023.

As of June 1st, 2023, ActionTiles will drop official support for Internet Explorer, iOS 9 and below, Fire OS 5 and below, Android 5 and below, as well as any device that is no longer supported by the manufacturer. We will not take any measures to disable ActionTiles on these devices, but we will not investigate or correct any issues if and when they arise on

the obsolete devices.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Alex

Hi

I confirm the issue is now resolved and I thank you for that. I do understand that a decade old device can’t be definitively supported. I will replace it by something more recent when the need to move on will come. For now I am very happy to see it functional again.

Thanks for your quick support.
