Confirmation dialog option for Tiles? "Are you sure?"

Dan Hunt 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) / Special Tiles updated by Mark Konior 6 years ago 5

Is there a possibility to get an option to get a pop up question if you are sure you want to do an action?  I have created a routine, "panic button" which turns on the sirens, all the lights and locks the doors.

It would be nice to get an "are you sure you want to do this" confirmation to prevent accidental pressing.  I currently have it pin protected, but that could be to cumbersome in an actual emergency.  Thank you!

This makes sense to me as a Tile Security option.

We currently have mandatory confirmation for operating a Garage Door and opening valves and locks.

Hi Dan ... Great idea...

We already have confirmation dialogs hard-coded into certain Tile types (Lock, Garage Door), so perhaps we can extend this as an option for other Tiles; though we try to avoid clutter with too many options.

I suggest one workaround is to use the Routines Tile, since it pops up a list of Routines that must then be selected from. At least that will add the requirement for 2 taps instead of 1.

Another possibility is to use a Smart Lighting or CoRE rule to trigger the Panic Button Routine using a Virtual Lock device and Tile...

I have a routine button as well, it just happens to be on the last page of the routines.  So it ends up being more button presses than just entering the pin code.

I do see the confirmation on my locks and garage door.  It would just be great to have the option for other tiles.  Terry is right, too many options clutter up, but giving the option of a confirmation in tile settings could be very useful.  Even having the option for the hard coded ones might be useful as well.  I really don't need a confirmation to lock my doors.

I would love this option for my Harmony activities. I have several components in my home theater, including a projector. Accidentally pressing one of these is a big hassle because I have to wait for everything to turn on/off, switch inputs, etc. Especially since the projector takes several minutes to cool down before it can be turned back on.
