Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, the Ring Pro uses a closed video feed locked to their cloud, and thus it cannot be accessed by ActionTiles.

Here's a reddit that discusses the issue:

But more up to date; SmartThings Community Topic:

We recommend that customers encourage their camera providers to provide video feeds in standard LAN (local area network) accessible formats.

You will be able to add the live feed to ActionTiles only if / when the device allows to view MJPEG video stream via a direct URL.

HI folks, seen as Smartthings can now open the video stream is this now possible within action tiles?

Sorry... nope. SmartThings does not share their camera feeds with us.

My daughter bought an original Ring and cannot keep large trucks going down her street from triggering the motion sensor. I hope the Ring Pro has corrected that problem.

I've got my Ring Pro set up so that the motion detection area doesn't include the street at all and it only alerts if there's movement on my lawn or driveway. With that said, sometimes headlights shining on my lawn do trigger it; I live on a cul de sac and don't see many events triggered this way but you can tweak the sensitivity of the motion detection to reduce false positives.

Thanks for verifying that the Ring Pro is less sensive to false motion triggering. Have you tried using split screen ActionTiles along with your Ring app?

There is a sensitivity slider now called Motion Zones. It should be fine now.

Hello Guys!

I have 3 cameras in my house and im working with the Android apps (nexus

6p), it works as a charm, may be because you need a good router and a

good upload speed, and of course a good cel phone, I can live view them

and change between cameras really fast, I really love this cameras so

far, I had a few other with a DVR at home and always had some issue with

the app or the wifi or anything, RING make a great job with this

babys.... the only issue I found so far is that I can´t live view the

cameras in my web browser with my computer, may be they should work on

that.

btw if anyone needs a code for 25U$ off on each camera let me know and I can help you!

Motion Zones make everything easier now. I've been a Ring user for a long time now and can say for sure that false alarms are no longer present.

With the motion zones and Ring Pro's enhanced sensing capabilities, false alerts are a rarity for sure.

Would ActionTiles support a tile/button that could launch an external application/function? For example, tap a tile that would launch the Ring app (or Nest or whatever) that can open the live view for that camera? (or at least launch the app - assuming that your ActionTiles dashboard platform can run the native Ring app, if you're running it on an Android or iOS device anyway... YMMV if you're running Actiontiles on a Raspberry Pi or something).

Just thinkin out loud. :) Until Ring and Nest support live feeds to other partners like Actiontiles and SmartThings anyway...

I am (halfway) answering my own question here: I just found this article on ActionTiles that shortcuts can be used to launch an application (or specific device/action) if you have the right information:   http://support.actiontiles.com/topics/911-can-a-shortcut-tile-open-an-app/

So I'm working on finding out the notification URL scheme for the Ring application, and if I have any success I'll let you all know. Hopefully it's something like    ring://api.ring.com/yourdeviceIDhere7853238572358723 or something like that. Would be sweet to just hit a button and it launch the app and bring up the live feed for the device. Then home/back to resume the ActionTiles dashboard after you have a look-see.

Chris

This would be sweet!  let me know if you need an additional test dummy.

Please share your findings. We will start a listing of the known popular app intents.

Did you ever get this to work, if Live View or feed will not work in ActionTiles, it would be very nice to open the Ring app (ring://) and directly go to the Live View of a specific camera.

I seem to have lost my connection and can't view any activity.  don't know where to sign in on website...

See here for more info  http://www.kidder.io/2017/07/04/ring-doorbell-api/

Hello,

I'm new to the action tiles but would love to have the Ring doorbell embedded as tile in the dashboard...

Yep - I think once you add it to ST with the device handler, then then from AT, select it as your included devices, you can use it here.  Pretty straightforward.

But there will be no video streaming functionality, to be clear.

Yeh I already have it integrated and working with the ST and also a motion tile in my panel but I was looking more for the video streaming auto pop-up - which is not supported today by action tiles....

So Ring DoorBell does stream.  It is using RSTP protocol which you can access through your ST Graph API and also having a RSTP codec.  I am just fooling around with this now and managed to get it to work in a browser with a chrome extension.  Couldn't this technically work in ActionTiles since we are just using a browser?

Chrome Extensions don't work on Android and iOS.

Firefox supports extensions, but we prefer to avoid requiring browser specific functionality.

Try using a transcoder like Blue Iris, VLC, Kerberos.io, or TinyCam Pro?

Hey, hwo did you manage to get the Stream Working with a chrome extension?

Which extension and RTSP Stream Path did you use?

When you add the Ring to SmartThings you can see the RTSP path if you log in to the ST IDE page and click on the Ring Doorbell under the Devices list. On the info page of your Ring device it will show the stream paths. Maybe those will work.

Googling for "ring rtsp" is pretty conclusive (???) that RTSP streaming is not available from Ring cameras.

However, if someone does have a URL and wants to test the theory, just plug the URL into the tinyCam Monitor App for Android (or another RTSP capable video player, such as VLC).

"Chrome extensions" to play RTSP are not available in mobile (i.e., Android, iOS) browsers; which, of course, are the viewing devices of the overwhelming majority of ActionTiles customers.

RTSP can be transcoded to MJPEG streams (no audio) or JPEG snapshots, using various server software options like Blue Iris, tinyCam Monitor Pro, VLC, and many more.

has anybody used this to get a url stream for Ring?

https://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=Ring#

I'm guessing that this ispyconnect information may be obsolete... Unless there is any mention of RTSP on Ring's website.

Has anyone figured out how to get the Ring Pro feed yet? What about the Ring Stickup camera?

Let me know if you know something about it

Its easier to just buy a 20 wyze cam and stream the RTSP feed. This is what I ended up doing. Wyze also makes a doorbell which may be worth trying. (12 second cloud recording is free with Wyze)

This may be a niche combination/request but i am hoping some of you pros have this already.

I am going to install 2 external cameras (PoE preferably) and use my Synology NAS 2-camera NVR license to monitor. Now Synology posts an extensive camera compatibility list. Question is how do i figure which works with SmartThings and then with ActionTiles? A bit foggy here. Thanks in advance!

I do have 2 Ring video doorbells but reading this thread and I am going to give up on that integration.
