Option for still image Media to open streaming video upon zoom

Sgni 2 years ago in Media Tiles updated by KamHouse 9 months ago 2 1 duplicate

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed, but I couldn't find anything recent about it. So...

Has there ever been any more discussion about having the option to click a still image media tile and have it open the mjpg video feed when it enlarges?

I assume the reasoning is obvious, but for me, it would be ideal if I could have the thing that's on all the time just be an occasionally refreshed still image, and then go 'live' when I click on it.

i have setup ~12 (low res) cameras using tinyCam Pro into a single panel. With 12 streams going, the Tablets keep timing out and i still need to add more cameras to our View.
If I convert the video feeds into JPEGs that refresh every 5-10 seconds, the tablets and laptops have no issues displaying the page
Would it be possible to add an option to the media tile to show an image by default (with the refresh option) and if someone clicked on it, and it opens full screen, use a different URL to play the video stream ? This will help conserve the bandwidth on WiFi to only stream the single channel when requested.

I was planning to suggest something similar and found this thread. It would be nice to have a video tile with two URLs for substream / mainstream switching.

My DVR has to transcode the mjpeg video for the tablet. At a decent resolution like 480p I can only get about 3 simultaneous streams before it maxes out the processor. At 160p I can get many more streams, but they look awful when viewed at full screen. So having a tile that could pull in the higher res stream when it goes full screen might be helpful.
