Lutron Ceiling Fan Support

Jeremy Angel 2 years ago in Things & Capabilities updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 2 years ago 3

I have several Lutron Caseta ceiling fan switches in my system and I can add them to my panels but there doesn't seem to be any way to set the speed on the fan.  They show up as a switch and I'm able to either turn them on (which sets them to high speed) or turn them off.  I can set differrent speeds in the ST App but not in AT.  Is there a way to add this feature in the future?

The Fan Speed capability is difficult to handle in SmartThings because it does not define the range of values for the speed attribute.

https://developer.smartthings.com/docs/devices/capabilities/capabilities-reference/#fanSpeed

There's no way to tell if fan accepts values 0-3 or 0-100, for example...

I'm curious - we can see in ST history that it comes across as Max, High, Medium and Low so assumably it is 0 - 4,  Is this something that AT looks at by device fingerprint so AT can look at  by device so it can say 0 - 4, and if so, does AT just need a willing experimenter to see if that would work?  I'm asking since I do have other fan controls (Leviton and GE) that do come across as a slider so not sure if its only because this is not a native device or another issue.  Frankly, this is probably the ONLY limitation for what I use AT for and I really miss it for these devices!

SmartThings API does not expose the range of accepted values, unfortunately.
