How do I set a PIN code for just one tile?

mr smith 6 years ago in Security updated by John VG 3 years ago 7

I have a Tile that is a switch for our Whole House Fan. It can be accidentally tapped and I want to prevent this - especially if there is a fire going in the fireplace. It seems like I could set a PIN code for it but it seems I have to set a pin for the entire panel? I'd rather not have to set a PIN for the entire panel. Any ideas?

Correct, Captain!

The Panel's "PIN" is applied and only activated on a Tile-by-Tile basis. So perhaps you enable it for SHM, Locks, and special Switches like Fireplace.

Ok... I'm blind... WHERE exactly is the PIN Code enabled?  Is it where the PIN is typed in at (Panel Settings / Panel Security...)? Mine currently reads: Panel PIN code is SET.  But when I look under TILE SETTINGS, I don't see any way to enable the PIN for that particular Tile...

Oh, I see it only works for certain types of items.  IE - I see it for my simply ON/OFF switches, but I don't see it for things like: simple URL shortcuts, or my EcoBee Thermostats.  Drat!!!!

The PIN Protected Tile option is available for "many" Tile Types, including Switches, Locks, and Valves... but we know that expanding it to Thermostats, Shortcuts, etc., will be valuable to customers.

I am just getting started with SmartThings.  I noticed that my motion detectors and door sensors do not have a Tile Security option.  Since I use these items for my security system, I would like to protect the settings so that someone else doesn't adjust them.  I would think that these Tiles would have made it to the Protected Tile Option as a priority.  Any update as to whether this will be an option soon?

can multiple different pin codes be set for an individual tile?

I want each home member to be able to use their own particular pin code to arm or disarm SHM.
