D-Link Camera Feed - Which URL to use?

Gene Clark 6 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by John Intorcio 6 years ago 1

I’m trying to get my D-Links into ActionTiles and not sure which URL to use.  Shouldn’t it be one of these?  I’m not sure which URL to even use out of 1-4.

D-Link cam working on MacBook and iPad but not on Fire HD tablet

Diana Donofrio 7 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Gene Clark 6 years ago 4

D-Link DCS-943L

I am able to view the camera feed in my ActionTiles panels on my MacBook and iPad but not on Fire HD tablet using Fully Kiosk.

I have tried a few different formats and this is what works:

IP:port/video.cgi?&user=XXXX&pwd=XXXXX

The error I get when editing the URL in My Media on the tablet is 'Enter valid URL to preview video stream.'

I tested it and was able to view the cam feed using the same URL in the Silk browser on the Fire tablet.

Also, it worked when I accessed if from My Shortcuts in AT (opened in a new screen not in a panel) however it required my username and password even though the URL contained that info.

Three other cams (Foscam FI8910W) work fine on all devices.

Any suggestions?

Video Stream with password

DaveJake 7 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 12 2 duplicates

I have a Linksys WVC80N video camera.  I can view the video in a tile on my PC and iOS device.  But on an Android Nook with Chrome browser, the video feed does not work, most likely as it won't let me add a username and password.

I can access the video via URL, if I could pass the username:password.  How do I use a URL like:  http://username:pwd@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/img/video.mjpeg ?  the ActionTiles media tile won't let me use this syntax.

Android
Answer

Chrome now blocks "basic http authentication in embedded URLs" (i.e., URLs of the form "https://username:pwd@address").

You might have success with Firefox; or find out if your camera allows authentication as parameters (i.e., video.mjpeg?user=userID&password=pwd) ... but the parameters are not standard across camera vendors and models, so I don't know what they would be.

Camera recommendation for live streaming?

Michael Wheelock 6 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 2

I am looking for a recommendation. I am building a new house and want to add a real-time video stream of my front porch. Ideally, this would flow from an internal IP address to my Action Tiles app and not consume external bandwidth.

The house comes with a Ring Pro doorbell which would have been ideal since it is hardwired, but I know the proprietary nature prevents this.

I have a set of Alro Pro cameras but now realize this is not an option.

Can someone recommend a low-cost Wifi IP camera that can be hardwired for power, and gives me the ability to stream video real time to Action Tiles? Preferably that I can interface directly with the app via IP address and doesn't need to flow outside the LAN to interface.

I am thinking something like this:

http://bit.ly/2BHaQnc

I like the night vision capability

or http://bit.ly/2B961Sr

I like the PTZ capability but not sure if ActionTiles would support this?

Thanks for the guidance!

Show website contents in a Tile as a refreshed image?

Elias Obaid 7 years ago in Media Tiles / Website Views updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 7

Hi,

Is there a way to show this site in actiontiles as an image that is updated? It shows the local traffic departures close to my house.

Media Tiles are changing image proportions

Rob Cummings 6 years ago in Media Tiles updated by JB Bentz 6 years ago 3

Images in tiles shouldn't be stretched to fit the width and height of the tile. Rather, they should either fill the tile with a width of 100% OR a height of 100% but not both. See below... Weather map, web camera, weather forecast, and travel time are all stretched out of their original/native proportion.

Image 1583

Also:

In the case of the weather map and web camera, a tile proportion of 3:2 is not the same as the image proportion of 4:3.

NVR that works with ActionTiles?

Michael Basic 6 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 0

Hi there,

I've recently purchased an actiontiles license, and I've got my dashboards set up mostly the way I want them, but I'd really like to get my 3 camera feeds on my dashboards.  My cameras are wired with coax cable (wired them up when the house was under construction) and currently hook into a Nuvico Apex NVR.  I know this won't work because to view the cameras in a browser you have to log in to the nuvico applet thing...it doesn't accept credentials in a web address.

What I want to know is, is there some NVR I can purchase that will take my wired coax camera feeds and spit them out onto the interwebs in an mjpeg format that actiontiles can handle?  That would be the ideal solution for me...just replace my NVR with something that will work.

If that doesn't work, I see there's some talk about Blue Iris and how if you turn off security within your network you can see the cameras, so that might be a viable solution, but then I'm picking up a windows computer to use.

Otherwise I have to get new cameras?  Searching around the forums here, a lot of the info is old and there aren't really any clear answers that I can find.  I'd love some insight if anyone has a line on an NVR that would work for me.

By the way, I'm running actiontiles in Fully on some 7" kindle fires.

Tile Setting to disable Media Tile zoom on tap

sorry 6 years ago in Media Tiles updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 0

Currently "view only" is available to other tile types under tile security, however i think this should be an option for Media Tiles, as it could be used to disable the Zoom function if desired.

I'd like to make my Media Tiles not do anything when tapped.

Chromecast audio volume control?

Slider1385 7 years ago in Media Tiles updated by JB Bentz 6 years ago 10

Hey All,

Is it possible to have a tile that controls chromecast audio volume. It wouldn't need to select songs or anytjibg like that, just control volume. This would make it perfect for a whole home audio setup.

Answer

There is Generic Media Renderer that's worth checking out.

I'm not sure if any other popular devices claim the "Media Player" capability.

Media tiles loading

parac 7 years ago in Media Tiles updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 6 years ago 12

I have 2 media tiles, 1 is a weather radar from a local tv station, the other is a gif from my camera that updates every second. They used to work fine, but for the last couple weeks or so they go back and forth between working and a loading screen. 2nd screenshot shows an example of the loading screen. It happens to both the weather and camera tiles. It seems fairly random. They can both work fine for an hour or pretty much flicker between the image and loading screen. Any idea what is going on?

Video Sessions Accumulating, not Ending Properly

Tamathumper 7 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 7 years ago 20

Because I use Android phones running IP Webcam as security cameras, I can connect to them remotely with TeamViewer to see what's going on with each device.

SmartTiles would show each camera's video feed, and I could see on the phone that IP Webcam's "Video connections" would go from 0 to 1. When I switched SmartTiles dashboards, IP Webcam would reflect that "Video connections" went back to 0. All good.

With ActionTiles, if I open the panel with my video feeds, each IP Webcam (there are 4) will go from 0 to 1. All good.

If I click on one of the video feeds, it opens it up in a larger view. The IP Webcam now says "Video connections" is 2. Not a great use of bandwidth, but I can live with it.

When I close the larger view, IP Webcam does not decrement the video connections back to 1. In fact, each time I open a camera in larger view, it creates a new IP Webcam stream, but the stream never goes away. After a few days I can end up with 5 or 6 streams, multiplied by 4 cameras, and the network gets laggy.

If I close the ActionTiles browser tab, then the "Video connections" finally decrement back to 0, so something in ActionTiles is keeping old video streams alive.

Can you please help?

Cameras with local storage that work with Smartthings and ActionTiles (on Android)

Bubba 7 years ago in Media Tiles / Video Camera Feeds updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 7 years ago 1

So I'm looking to buy a camera, but I have a couple requirements:

A)  Must have local storage (I don't want to mess with any clouds, Blue Iris, or NVRs)
B)  Must work with Smartthings, more specifically I just want be able to have it record to local storage when a contact sensor is opened.

C) Must be viewable from Action Tiles.  I would prefer a live view directly from action tiles.  (AT will be running on an Android in the same LAN as the camera).

Most of the cameras on the other threads either do one or two, or don't have enough information for me to tell if they do all three.  I would love to hear from the community regarding what you guys use that would satisfy the above requirements.
