Tile Size & Theme per Tileset

Adam 7 years ago in Panels (dashboards) updated by Terry (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 5 years ago 9

I would love to be able to set Tile Size per tileset, rather than per panel...

At the moment, in order to have two large media tiles at the top, and lots of smaller buttons at the bottom, this has to be done with an HTML file on a local server, to load the two panels. It would be nice to be able to set the tile size setting on tilesets, rather than just on Panels.

Customization of some stylings at the Tileset level are easier than others (e.g., I guess a Tileset could have its own colors).

Mixing different base Tile Pixel Dimensions in one Panel, however, would result in some non-deterministic layout quirks. Squeezing this into the current layout engine would be interesting ... but probably troublesome.

Along with being able to size specific Tilesets within a Panel, it would also be great to be able to specify for ALL Tiles added whether it is a 1x1, 2x1, 2x2, 3x1,4x1, etc...

Adam, do you need Media Tile size to be bigger than 3 x 2? How large do you need it to be?

Well, take for example an iPad/mini, running 1024x768.

medium small has 9 tiles across

medium has 7 tiles across

large has 6 tiles across. This is currently the only size that allows two media tiles side-by-side, to cover the whole screen. And then, only leaves two rows of 6 below it (12 massive tiles).

If you could have a Large tileset, above a medium-small tileset you could have 21 tiles below!

Without that ability, for medium-small, a video tile would need to be 4.5x3 to quarter a screen.

Hey Adam

I have mine set up with 7 tiles across, my weather media on the bottom, just an idea maybe You can use

Bumping this up to the top (hopefully).
I think setting the tile size per tileset would be very useful.  I'd like to have some tiles (as a collection) be smaller and some larger.  While being able to have individual control over the grid size (ex: 3x2) goes a long way, it would be much much much more useful if we could also say "this set is on a large grid and this set is on a tiny grid" and then set 3x2

I'd like to have the text size different for varying rows of tiles. For example. Top row of tiles are all "scene/ action" tiles. The ones used frequently. These would be larger, text larger and icon larger. Then below at the bottom smaller tiles with smaller text and icons which make up the status of devices being updates by the scene/action tile. Is there some way to do this? I'd like to try Adam's suggestion of loading two panels but dont know how to do this.

Being able to apply Themes at the Tileset level would be useful. Also, the for Smart Home Monitor tiles and Mode tiles to respect custom themes (they currently don't).
