Hubitat Integration Public Beta (March 2021)

Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 3 years ago in Announcements updated 10 months ago 262

Hubitat integration is now ready for Public Beta!

We are opening up registrations starting today. You will be able to use the Hubitat Elevation platform with ActionTiles for an extended period of time, free of charge, while we iron out any kinks that come up. When the integration will be deemed stable, a standard 14-day free trial period will begin after advanced notice.

Make sure that your Hubitat Hub has the latest firmware built 2.2.6.130.

The use of ActionTiles platform is subject to our Terms and Conditions. A license will be required to continue using the Hubitat integration after a trial period. The licensing fees will be similar to SmartThings Locations / Hubs.

I have been using ActionTiles with Smartthings for some time. I like being able to view everything in one place, quickly identifying any potential  issues. I have a panel set up for battery conditions, lighting switches and dimmers, and all my sensors (motion, contact, temperature, etc. ).

I recently migrated from Smartthings to Hubitat and was quickly able to connect my Hubitat with the beta verision of Actiontiles. Everything seemed to work with Hubitat in the same manner as it worked with Smartthings. As soon as  the beta version is ready for prime time, I will be ready to purchase my new license.

The only issue I have is a couple of Hue light bulbs that do not indicate properly in Actiontiles. The lights show they are on even when thought are off. However, several other Hue bulbs are working properly. I can use Actiontiles to turn the Hue bulbs off, then on, the off again and they indicate properly.   So I am not sure what is going on. I may have to remove those two bulbs from Hue, reset them and then pair them again with Hue and then bring them back into Hubitat and Actiontiles. I doubt this is an ActionTiles error.

do your hue bulbs register as switches? That’s my problem as right above your comment.

Please write to me privately and include your Hubitat Hub ID.

Hubitat doesn’t sync with Hue immediately. There is a polling loop of one minute to sync them together, so maybe AT is only showing what Hubitat is seeing...

Correct. This is true for both platforms. If the hub is not aware of a physical state change, it won't report the information to ActionTiles.

The issue above is slightly different though.

When I look at my Hubitat hub details in ActionTiles today I see a message saying the trial has ended and I need to purchase a license.  I have been watching because I expected this to happen soon  The license page only has an option for SmartThings though.

Ignore this message for now, Jim. The integration still needs some work, mostly on missing features. Once the Hubitat integration is out of Public Beta, a standard trail period will being. You will be able to purchase licenses at that time.

I discovered the availability of this beta quite by accident. I recently updated my Hubitat hub and noticed Action Tiles was available in the app section. I was an Action Tiles user when I was with Smartthings and really missed it after switching to Hubitat. Hopefully this will become a production product at some point. I would gladly purchase a license (but not a subscription, sorry).

Now I need to get going and create a few useful dashboards!!

Welcome back to ActionTiles, Mike.

At this point, the integration with Hubitat is very stable. There's little to no outstanding issues. There are some gaps around modes, HSF and weather which will filled as soon as possible.

Graduating the Hubitat integration to Production is mostly administrative effort, but it's fairly involved...

Any news on when this will be updated please?

Does ActionTiles support Hubitat Buttons or HSM?  I don't see them when adding Tiles

Answering myself as there was no reply :)

I associated Virtual Switches with the Hubitat Buttons and had them turn off after 2 seconds.  I then added the switches to AT (and used a button icon).

HSM can be added from SmartThings using HubConnect (I like that AT Panels can add tiles from both Hubitat and ST), or I can just use the Mode and some Virtual Switches to change the Alarm state.  (I keep Mode in sync with HSM).

+1

I had the same issue as you can see from my previous post and the response from Alex was that you needed to add a switch or momentary capability to the button. I did exactly what you described except used 500ms for a quicker response. Should have posted my solution but you beat me to it. Part of the fun is figuring out work how to get around stumbling blocks:) I can now turn off everything with a button press.

Would you mind giving some details on this process?  I am not sure what you mean by associating a virtual switch with the hubitat button.

I go a long way back with AT... back to when it was Smart Tiles.  ST has gotten to be such a pain I started looking at Hubitat.  Seeing AT sold me.  Working on getting HT setup, have some issues, actually a lot of issues, but I will work them out.  Soon as I have a stable HT AT will be next.  So glad AT is available on Hubitat.  Ginny  (Hi Alex)

Hi Ginny! Glad to see you continuing your journey!

What a great product. It took me 2 full weeks to migrate from Smartthings over to Hubitat. It took me a couple of hours only to set everything up in Actiontiles. What a relief to finally have my dashboard back online (only the weather tile missing) and all my devices ticking like clockwork. Keep up the good work.

+1

Hello Alex!  I just wanted to thank you for all of the hard work on this.

I've switched everything over to HE with ActionTiles, and I'm loving it.

I purposely haven't tinkered or messed with anything for two whole weeks, and everything is running beautifully!!

No more dealing with the daily "downs" of ST is a beautiful thing.

So, thank you for all of your hard work on this!!

I have just finished moving from Smartthings.

I am now having problems with my Hubs suddenly slowing down, Z wave devices not responding and Action Tiles not updating, especially but not exclusively when devices are linked through Hub Mesh.

I use Webcore for pretty much everything and yes I do have several HEM's but they are set up to transmit once a minute and that seems to be happening OK.

Looking at my Runtime Stats for Apps, Action Tiles seems to be way too high.

Does this level of traffic look right to you for about 170 devices

I also see these errors in the log!

Is it possible to remove and reinstall Action tiles without losing all my panels?

Will that help at all?

Thanks

Yes, it's alright to uninstall the ActionTiles connector app without losing your panels. Once the app is reinstalled, tiles will be restored.

ActionTiles is entirely cloud dependent, so each event results in a message sent to the ActionTiles Cloud.

How is your internet connection? The errors in the log indicated that our servers could not be reached. When this happens, you will also notice that the tiles do not update.

Alex,

I have just tried to re-install and re-link Action Tiles on my C7 hub after what you said but it doesn't work. Everything remains disconnected.

I suspect it's something else on my Hub, but I am just reporting this in case you have any other suggestions.

I have restored from Yesterday's backup so my Hub is partially functional again anyway although very slow.

You may need to re-initialize the app by opening ActionTiles > My Hubs > Your Hub > and tap this button:

At this point, the ActionTiles/Hubitat integration is deemed stable. If there are any issues, they are likely related to the hub itself. Please open a private ticket and provide your hub information.

Tried that yesterday and same issue persisted. Tried just now and getting error: 504 -- went back to the AT app on the HE hub and pressed done and that error 504 went away but the Hub Error: eventSubscrptions remains. I don't see anyway to debug this on my side either.

I've been an ActionTiles user for SmartThings forever, but the other day I pulled everything out of ST. How can I get on the ActionTiles Hubitat beta?

+2

Add a new location in AT and choose Hubitat as the option. From there, link HE and bring devices over.

+1

Thanks, Avi! I am back up and running on AT via HE! This is beautiful again. Thank you AT team!

Getting this error -- Hub Error: eventSubscrptions

There are several potential causes, probably due to connectivity issues with the hub itself.

Try to re-initialize the app by clicking this button under My Hubs > Select Hub

If this does not resolve your error, please open a private ticket and provide your hub details.

I just made the switch from Smartthings to Hubitat yesterday, and so far mostly good with rebuilding my AT pages.

Saw a few people mention this above, and some with workarounds using a virtual switch instead of a virtual button, but I wanted to bring it up again since it may be an issue across the board. I created a couple virtual buttons, and although they show up in list of devices in AT, they do not show up as an available tile to add. Were you able to fix this for folks that reported the problem previously? Sure, I could create a virtual switch and have it turn back off after some period of time, but a button fits the use better.

I have a similar issue.  More Alexa related.  With Alexa you can't hook devices FROM Alexa to Hubitat.  So the workaround has been to set up a virtual switch in ST to change the state in Alexa.  Because Alexa can't use a virtual switch in automations, you use a motion sensor instead.  However when I do this in HE, I can control it in HE devices, but when I add it to AT I can't tap on the tile to turn it on or off.  AT see it as a motion sensor and will not allow a toggle on or off.  Absolutely love the HE implementation.  I have everything I need.

One thing you might find useful is using a virtual lock in Hubitat. It is an interesting device because a lock is both a switch (you can lock and unlock the virtual device with a command). However, the virtual lock can also report its status (locked or unlocked). Thus, it acts as both a switch and a sensor. This makes it useful for Hubitat, Alexa, and Actiontiles.

I just realized it says my trial has expired.  Is there something I can do to fix this?  I own an ST license but this is my HT demo location.

Please purchase and apply a License Key to view Tiles linked to this Location. To transfer a License from another Location to this replacement Location/Hub, use the  () page.

Thank-you for exploring ActionTiles.
Please email Support@ActionTiles.com if you have questions, feedback, or are hesitating to purchase for any reason.

Alex told me a while ago to ignore this message for now.  I check occasionally to see if the option to purchase a license for Hubitat is available.

Please ignore this message, for now. This message only appears on license details page. Otherwise, the message does not interfere with your use of ActionTiles.

Once Hubitat Elevation licenses are available for purchase, there will be advanced notice before a standard 14-day trial period begins.

We need to resolve some administrative issues before licenses can be sold. Otherwise, the HE integration is stable, so enjoy your prolonged trial period.

Thanks Alex for the response.  I will look closer as my Hubitat devices are now showing invalid in AT.  ST devices are fine.  HT device does work in HT console, just not in AT.  I did make sure it was authorized.  You can see below anything flagged with HT is  Hubitat.  The rest is from SmartThings.  Ecobee is Hubitat as well.  temp and setting is incorrect.

Please open a private support ticket and provide details about your issues.

funny thing.  when i went back after that screen shot it all started working.  oh well. thanks!

Getting the same thing. and this  Hour later And I just checked and it's back up.

Is there an issue with AT right now?

Nothing is updating on the tiles, and I'm seeing this in HE:

What is INIT?  Initializing?

Also, when I try to update subscriptions, on either HE or ST, nothing happens.

I'm seeing similar, HE devices not updating on AT.

Same here too, I was working on earlier today, and it was fine

FYI, my tiles (SmartThings) aren't updating, either. I'm guessing the last update was sometime during the mid-afternoon (PDT).

-Don

Same here and same time. (SmartThings) .  I did the following with no help. Open a ticket.

        *  Reset SmartThings Hub

  • Open the SmartThings mobile app, select Automations, scroll down to SmartApps. Toggle ActionTiles app OFF and then back ON.
  • Open the SmartThings mobile app, select Automations, scroll down to SmartApps, select ActionTiles. Tap Done.
  • Open My Locations / Hubs page in ActionTiles. Tap the (+) button. Authenticate with SmartThings and tap the Authorize button.
  • Open My Locations / Hubs page in ActionTiles, select your Location / Hub. Tap "Update event subscriptions, device names and modes".
  • Sign in to account.SmartThings.com. Select My Locations, Select your Location, select List SmartApps. Find ActionTiles V6 (Connect) in the list and tap Update.

> I did the following....

Yep, I followed the same steps, with no change. I opened a ticket, too.

-Don

This is on the ActionTiles side, because everything else is working fine: Hubitat, webCoRE, EchoSpeaks....  ActionTiles will not let me update subscriptions to either Hubitat or SmartThings.

I am getting INIT as well.  Started a few hours ago.  I opened a ticket.

Working for me now. Did an update of event subscriptions in AT. Status now shows Active.

I'm experiencing the same outage/disconnect again now between AT and HE.  Opened a ticket...

There's no outage, Corey. If there's a problem, it must be unique to your hub. I'm responding privately to your ticket.

After several updates recently to the Hubitat Elevation firmware, I noted that  a number of my Actiontiles panel tiles were not syncing properly withe the actual devices in Hubitat. I opened the Actiontiles Locations/Hubs page and clicked on the icon to update the event subscriptions, device names and modes. Ever since doing that, things seem to be working normally. I just thought I would post this in case anyone else had a similar issue.

This process is now automated. All hubs are synchronized approximately every 12 hours.

Since there has not been any significant activity in this portion of the forum for a while, I wondered if development for the Hubitat integration is still active. I have been using Actiontiles with Hubitat since mid-April.  The functionality with Hubitat seems to be similar to that with Smartthings.

What can we expect in the coming months?

Since two days have passed without any response to my post, I guess the answer to my question is that we should not hold our breath waiting for progress.

All activity on support channel is triaged. Open-ended, general questions usually receive lower degree of urgency.

Hubitat Safety Monitor is one important Hubitat-specific feature that's currently missing. Also, Weather Tile is required for feature parity with SmartThings.

These two features are under development and their release will be aligned with Hubitat's firmware release schedule.

During the past several months, most development effort was invested in infrastructure maintenance and upgrades to insure business continuity. We made significant back-end changes without any downtime, in most cases.

Taking the Hubitat integration out of Beta requires significant administrative overhead, which will be our focus in the coming couple of month.

Thanks for the update. Since activity on this thread has been absent for a while, I was beginning to wonder if development had stopped. I like Actiontiles and it does what I want it to do. However, I was wondering if I needed to start moving everything over to Hubit Dashboard. I will hang in there a while longer.

will we be able to move existing smart thing licences over to HE or will we be required to purchase new?

SmartThings licenses are not transferable to Hubitat. We permit a reasonable number of Location License Key transfers due to a hub malfunction. Please refer to this article for more information.

https://support.actiontiles.com/en/knowledge-bases/8/articles/10670-actiontiles-license-transfers

Is registration closed now? I can't find a link to register for the Beta, and the "Buy Now" section seems to only have the Smartthings version...

No registration is necessary. Everyone is welcome to install ActionTiles for Hubitat. Hubitat integration is currently in Beta, no license required.

Just want to sat this is MOST AWESOME and for me at exactly the right time. I have started my migration over to Hubitat! So far no issues ... Brilliant.

I'm a long time user of Action tiles with SmartThings... I created my panels years ago and never had a need to change them.  I have now switched to Hubitat and I'm wanting to re-do action tiles with my new C7 hub.  Where do I start?  Are there directions on installing this Beta version somewhere that I can't find and how do I need to tell ActionTiles that I no longer going to be using SmartThings?  It's like I'm starting all over again.  Am I missing the link on the directions somewhere?

+1

Tom, the process for installing ActionTiles on Hubitat is identical to SmartThings, no directions are necessary. Just visit My Hubs pages, tap the (+) button and continue with your device authorization.

The Hubitat integration is stable and is running with no issues.

Thank you for information... and a cool app.  I got ActionTiles up and running very quickly once I got over my brain-freeze and it all came back to me.  Your correct, ActionTiles for Hubitat is working flawlessly for me and even though I'm moving over completely to Hubitat, I was surprised to see I could make a panel using sensors from both Samsung and Hubitat.  I do have one minor issue ...  It's my Ecobee thermostat.  My house has both oil heat and a heat-pump.  And while the Ecobee can automatically switch to either heating choices automatically, there are times when I tell the Ecobee manually to use the Aux heat which is oil.  I do that when outside condenser is filled with snow.  And while ActionTiles properly in the tile tells me I'm using AUX heat, when I open the options... AUX heat isn't a choice.  I would have to either go to the thermostat directly or use the Ecobee app. Would be nice if ActionTiles included AUX heat as a choice.... see picture below:

I could create a virtual switch and place it on the panel that could turn on AUX heat as well... but that's kind of hacky.  But I'm glad to be able to continue ActionTiles as I complete my migration to hubitat!  Thanks

Please remember that ActionTiles is linked with Hubitat and not directly to Ecobee.

Are you able to turn your aux oil heat on and off within Hubitat?  I have an Ecobee 3, but I have a standard HVAC unit with gas furnace and heat pump. Thus, I do not know how it works with a heat pump and aux heat.

The interaction between Hubitat and Ecobee is dependent upon the Ecobee API. It may be that Ecobee does not allow auxiliary heating to be turned on through the API, but only through the Ecobee itself, or through the Ecobee app. Typically aux heat is expensive, so I would think Ecobee would want to make it a little difficult to turn on aux heat. After all, they are trying to make HVAC more eco-friendly.

Do you have an Ecobee that is Alexa enabled like mine is?  If so, can you use Alexa voice control to turn the aux heat on and off?

I have my Ecobee setup to automatically switch between heating and cooling depending upon the temperature inside. However, I do not know if it can automatically switch to aux heat if the external temperature is too cold or the heat pump to be effective.

If Hubitat can control the aux heating, you could set up an outside temperature sensor and the establish a rule to tell Ecobee to turn on the aux heat whenever the external temperature falls below a specific temperature. If I remember correctly from when I lived in a house in Virginia with a heat pump, they start to lose efficiency when the temperature drops below 40 degrees F and are less efficient than a furnace once the temperature drops below 25 degrees F. Thus, if Hubitat can control the aux heat, you could set the oil heat to come on automatically whenever the outside temperature drops below 25 degrees and turn off once the temperature exceeds that level. Here in Northern Illinois, the temperature frequently falls below 25 degrees, so heat pumps are not a great option. It was 17 degrees this morning, the high temperature for the day. It will be in single digits by this evening.

In my house with Ecobee... I have two heating sources... Heat Pump & Oil. The Ecobee is programmed to use the Heat Pump when the temperature is above 25-degrees... anything less, it switches to Aux (Emergency heat) oil. It gets the weather information via the Internet and my Zip code.

If I go into Hubitat Devices for the Ecobee... I can turn on Aux (Emergency) heat in two places... see below:

From either of those circled buttons, I can manually change the Ecobee device to Aux (Emergency) heat. And that works. Now if you look at the picture from my previous post, you'll see from that picture (on the main Thermostat, not the downstairs thermostat), ActionTiles is showing that I currently have Aux heating going...I had a lot of snow. But also, you can see from the picture ActionTiles doesn't include Aux Heat or Emergency heating (they're the same) choice as a selection. So if my house is not in Aux heating and I need it to be... my current option is to switch to Aux heat is to use the ecobee app or directly from the thermostat itself or Hubitat Device app. As I said, there are times when I have to manually tell ecobee to use Aux heating... if I get too much snow even though it's above 25-degrees... or if I have some kind of issue with the heat-pump and oil is my only option. It would be nice if ActionTiles picked-up the Aux heating mode as well at just Heat, Cool, Auto & Off. In hubitat... under modes, I see... Auto, heat, cool, off and Aux heat... but the Aux heat selection isn't included in ActionTiles for some reason. Worse scenario, I think I'll have to create a virtual switch for Aux heating and use WebCore to initiate Aux heating.

I switched from SmartThings to Hubitat a little over a year ago and never looked back. I used ActionTiles with the previous platform, so I was thrilled when ActionTiles was released in beta last March. The interaction with Hubitat is still in beta format and I do not know when it might go live such that you will have to purchase a license. For now, no license if required.

While you can transfer your ActionTiles license from one SmartThings hub to another, it is my understanding that you will not be able to transfer that license to Hubitat. A new license will be required. If this is an obstacle for your, you can use the Hubitat Dashboards capability for free.

Since  it has been nearly a year since I linked Hubitat with ActionTiles, I might miss a step, but here is what I remember.

Open Hubitat Connect and install the ActionTiles app within the App section of Hubitat. Once your Hubitat hub is linked to ActionTiles, the App will provide a listing of all your Hubitat devices. You will have to authorize each device you wish to be available to ActionTiles. There is no need to authorize devices such as stand alone repeaters or Pico remotes as it is unlikely you will need to show them on an ActionTiles panel.

Log into the same ActiionTiles website you have been using with SmartThings. You keep the same login and password.

Then go to the main settings page. Part way down the left side you will see a menu item called My Locations/Hubs. If you open this item, you should see your current SmartThings hub along with its security identification. Do not remove this hub, even if you no longer plan to use the device. This is the hub for which you currently have an active license. You do not need to deactivate this license. You might find a use for your SmartThings hub one day.

Down at the lower right hand corner of the screen you should see a "+" sign. If you click on it, you will be asked if you want to add a new location and whether the new location is a SmartThings hub or a Hubitat (beta) hub. Select Hubitat and follow the instructions to add your Hubitat hub to the list of available locations. As long as Hubitat remains in beta, you do not need a license. Once it goes live, a trial period will be activated after which you will need to purchase a new license.

Once you have ActionTiles linked to Hubitat, you will need to import the devices you authorized in Hubitat. That is done by clicking on the Hubitat hub within ActionTiles and then clicking on Add Devices. That will require you to log into your Hubitat account. Select the Hubitat location to open a listing of all  devices your authorized in the Hubitat app. Select all the devices you wish to authorize in ActionTiles and then click on the Authorize button. That will make the authorized devices available to be used in any panels you wish to set up. By the way, if you decide to rename any of the devices in Hubitat, you can use the "Update Connection" button to transfer the updated information. If you add a new device, you will need to use the "Add Devices" item and select the new device for authorization.

Unfortunately, you cannot import any of your SmartThings panels for use with Hubitat. You will have to set everything up from scratch. However, since you are already familiar with the ActionTiles user interface, it should be a relatively painless process. That is why I am willing to pay for a new ActionTiles license. I could use the free dashboards option within Hubitat Connect, but that would require me to learn a new user interface. You can use either option or both as you choose.

If you run into snags in the interface between Hubitat, reply here and I will try to help. Others may be able to do so as well.

Thank you so much for the write up... as I said, I created my ActionTiles years ago and never needed to change anything so I've gotten really rusty on how to use ActionTiles but your refresher brought it back to memory!  And I appreciate the tip on not removing SmartThings.  I'll now be going to start working on new panels for hubitat and I'll let you know if I run into any issues!

THANK YOU AGAIN!!

I want to throw out a note of encouragement on continuing to develop ActionTiles for Hubitat.

I'm a longtime user of ActionTiles. I started using shortly before it went to a paid license version, and felt the license price was more than reasonable.

I seldom use the Smartthings app, other than to add devices. My control of my home is done almost exclusively from ActionTiles.

Now, with a lot of the uncertainty about the future of the Smartthings hubs, I've decided to migrate my home automation to Hubitat. As I considered whether or not to switch, ActionTiles was one of the first things I looked at was whether there was a version of ActionTiles for Hubitat. At first, I was disappointed to see a beta that is almost a year old, with no fully released version. Then as I read through the comments, it does appear HE version is going to eventually be a finished product.

I hope so. If not, I'm likely to be disappointed with the purchase of the HE hub.

And, buying a new license for the HE isn't a problem for me. The license for SmartTiles was about the best $30 I've ever spent, and I don't mind doing it again for a different platform.

+1

The purchase of a Hubitat Evolution Hub is the best $130 I've ever spent.  Walking away from Smartthings is also one of my best decisions.

is anyone seeing issues with media tiles not refreshing? Thanks

There was a general bug with the media tiles not refreshing. It was fixed a couple of days ago.

Please reload your app for the updates to take affect. If the issue remain, please open a private support ticket.

+1

Alex and Terry, I think that everyone wants to know, is this  project going to continue for Hubitat? I understand that they have their own dashboard but it is SEVERELY lacking. For the people that used this on SmartThings, I would say it is the easiest buy decision anyone could make to continue to support ActionTiles monetarily. The other competitor isn't that great either.

Please don't let ActionTiles Hubitat die with SmartThings code changes.

Hi Tony,

I'm sorry to inform you that Terry passed away 3 years ago due to a sudden heart failure.

ActionTiles lives on. The SmartThings connector app has been cut over to the new API platform as SmartThings is shutting down the Groovy platform. When the dust settles, all efforts will go into taking the Hubitat integration out of Beta.

+1

I 100% agree with Tony B. I have totally migrated to Hubitat and using Actiontiles as my main home interface. I would not hesitate to purchase a license even if it was more costly than SmarThings.

+1

I have been using Actiontiles since early in my days with Smartthings. When I learned Samsung was abandoning Smartthings, I decided it was time to move to Hubitat. I have doubled the number of devices in my home since migrating. I was delighted when Actiontiles opened the platform to Hubitat users nearly two years ago. I joined the beta program quickly and created my panels. I have been waiting for the Hubitat version to go into full service with paid licenses. I fear that since Actiontiles is not receiving a revenue stream from Hubitat users, support for that platform may be falling behind. Although there are alternatives for dashboards, I love Actiontiles and would hate to see the Hubitat version disappear.

+1

I agree with the comments immediately above. I have seen very few changes to the Hubitat platform since I joined the beta program nearly two years ago. The administration's efforts seem to be focused on the Smartthings. Once Aeotec began selling Smartthings hubs and devices, I have noted little advance to the Hubitat version of Actiontiles. Since Hubitat contains its own dashboard functionality and some 3rd party integrations are also viable, perhaps there just are not enough Hubitat fans using Actiontiles to make it worth the effort of finalizing the functionality.

Since Actiontiles for Hubitat has been an beta mode for nearly two years, I do not feel comfortable promoting it to other Hubitat users. There is just too much uncertainty. Perhaps it is time for me to consider alternatives as well.

Ya'll ever hear "if you can't say something good, don't say it at all"?

We're trying to encourage the developers to finish the beta, and you are saying you already left for ST.. Trust me, that isn't conducive to the conversation at hand

+1

If you are talking about me,  then I did not express myself clearly enough. I love Hubitat and have not plans to ever go back to Smartthings. I love Actiontiles and hope I never have to learn another dashboarding system. However, I have seen very little activity in the continued development of Actiontiles for Hubitat over the past year or so. I would very much like to see the development continue and I am willing to purchase an Actiontiles for Hubitat license to encourage that development. However, until I see some progress, I do not feel I can promote the platform to others. However, I will continue to use Actiontiles beta as long as it continues to meet the majority of my needs and long for the day the beta functionality is behind us.

Love ActionTiles but if you are an Android user and don't need a web interface or use ChromeOS then look into Hubitat Dashboard (Joe Page) in the play store. Have been using it for over a year without any issues.

+1

It really is the best web interface for Hubitat and still works pretty well but for my purposes, Hubitat Dashboard is a better option if you don't need the web interface. It would be great if they fixed all the little issues but it seems the developer is focused elsewhere.

Image 6881

I love using Actiontiles specifically because of the web interface. Even if I am away from home I can monitor the status of my devices over the Internet. I can even turn switches on and off, turn my water supply valve on or off, and lock or unlock my front door remotely (protected with a pin). That is a huge comfort when I am away on vacation.

On my home computer, I have a 32" monitor. That is great for monitoring a lot of devices at one time using my Actiontiles panels. Since I have 175 entries in my device page on Hubitat, Actiontiles makes it a lot easier to keep track of device status, battery life, etc. Trying to do that in an app on a smartphone would be quite difficult.

+3

ActionTiles needed to clear some legal obstacles that arose after the death of a founding member.

All recent efforts went into preparation for the SmartThings Groovy Platform changes to secure the existing user base. When the migration is complete and dust settles a little, we will be ready to expand. As resources are freed up, we will work to bring Hubitat integration to parity with SmartThings and take it out of Beta as soon as possible.

+1

My condolences to you, the team, and the family. Software is cool, family is more important, we can all be patient.

Hi Alex,

Condolences for the loss of a colleague and founding member.

I am very happy to read that support of Hubitat is still on your companies priority list. I use it faithfully on the HMI’s (iPads) that are placed in 3 locations in my home as part of my home automation and security system. It’s also a great tool when I’m traveling to be able to check the status of many devices from one place.

I’m very much looking forward to purchasing a license and having the platform permanent.

Thanks for the update.

John

I think you will see more ST to HE migrations soon. I just unplugged and sledgehammered my ST hub yesterday. I needed things to break before I would invest the time to migrate. I'm 100% Hubitat now and all is fine, including this rather stable AT HE beta.

I think the only thing missing is ability to change mode on the mode tile. Easily worked around with virtual switch tiles.

Same here.  Migrated over the last few days, and so far this beta is working well.  Also looking forward to the mode tile having the ability to change modes.

im ready and waiting Hubitat completion. Let's get this finished!!! I'll surely buy a lifetime license

I am delighted to see that Actiontiles for Hubitat is not going away any time soon. I am sure the mess with Samsung dropping the groovy functionality of Smartthings has thrown a huge wrench in the gears. When Samsung announced they were moving away from the Smartthings hardware, I suspected they would one day start moving away from the software support as well. That is why I made the decision to move to Hubitat, I have never regretted that decision. I was delighted when the Actiontiles for Hubitat integration was announced. I will be delighted once again when development on that integration resumes once the groovy transition is completed.

Is there anyway to replicate the weather station tile using hubitat?  I used it prior in ST but cannot figure it out yet.

My dashboard just went down.  Anyone else?

Went down how? What are the symptoms?

Well - I am as pleased as punch with AT for Hubitat ...it let me seamlessly move all my stuff from ST to HE.  My wife does not know the difference as her Orange thingy (the tile on her iphone for AT) is STILL her interface to our home automation.  I am ready to fork over my money Alex whenever you guys say it is out of beta.

Hi Alex,  I purchased the new Hubutat C8 Hub and did the Migration from C7 to C8. I was able to get everything to work with exception of Actiontiles. Since most of my Home Automation is accessed through Actiontiles via I-Pads around the house, and I could not get it to work with the C8, I went back to the C7 and everything seems to work. A have a couple questions.

- A second Hubutat Hub was added to my Hub List (the C8) that I have deleted. However, although everything with the C7 seems to work fine and update on Actiontiles, when I do a an "Update Connection" from My Locations/Hub, I now get a pop-up message..."Install Action Tiles Connector....you will now be taken to SmartThings Authorization Page" How do I get the connection to refresh normally before i screwed it up.

- Is there a good way to Migrate to the C8 and easily have my existing Panels still function. It's using the same Device names and ID's.?

This was corrected. Please refresh the page to update the app.

Please open a private ticket and include your account details. I will create a data fix for you. Several other users have already requested this.

ActionTiles works just fine with the new Hubitat C8. However, because Actiontiles assigns a new hub id to the C8 (just as it would any added hub), you have to recreate all of the panels and tiles. Once those tiles are created, they work just like they did with older Hubitat hubs. It would be nice if there were a simple way to migrate the panels and tiles from one hub to another; but at this point, it does not seem possible. I have four panels with 40-60 tiles on each panel. I was able to recreate them in a couple of hours. The UI of ActionTiles is fairly user friendly, so it is not a difficult task.

We are doing this as a courtesy to some users who requested. It's is possible to do if all device IDs are preserved during the migration.

Thanks Ray for the feedback. I figured I would have to do that. I was just hoping a slick way around this could be developed.

I am still having issues with the "Update Connection" function on both SmartThings and Hubitat. I get the message "Install Action Tiles Connector....you will now be taken to SmartThings Authorization Page". I have done this for SmartThings and still get the message. Obviously for Hubitat this is not what I should be doing, I have updated the Devices and Connection within the Hubutat App but still getting the message.

Do you have both Hubitat and Smartthings hubs registered with ActionTiles?

I started with Smartthings, so I have a paid ActionTIles license for that hub, but  it has not been powered on since I switched to Hubitat C7 a few years ago. Since migrating the devices and apps from my C7 to the new C8, the C7 has not been powered on. I did have to go to the License page in ActionTiles and add the new C8 hub as an unlicensed device since ActionTiles for Hubitat is still in beta. Hopefully, that will change before too long. It has been in beta for two years now. You will need to connect your ActionTile account to your Hubitat account so they can communicate. After a couple of weeks, I plan to delete all of the panels and tiles associated with my older C7 hub. The Smartthings panels and tiles were removed long ago.

I have migrated everything over to my new Hubitat C8 hub. Thus, I do not have to worry about using Hub Mesh or Hub Connect to join multiple hubs. Unless you have a  compelling reason to use two hubs, I would suggest migrating everything to the C8. If you have multiple buildings on your property, then using multiple hubs might make sense.

Hi Ray.... my story is very similar to yours. The only Tile that I use from SmartThings is a Weather Tile. I love my Hubitat Elevation and the Integration to AT. The AT team is amazing, and I am totally on board to purchase a license when the software is out of beta.

I also do not plan to use Hub Mesh or any time of Hub Connect and retire my C7 with great respect when I make the switch. I have one Panel that has 108 tiles and most of them are customized in some way so I'm guessing 3-4 hours to get it all back to perfection. I have another Panel that is 30 tiles and will not be that bad.

Thanks again for the advice, information, and affirmation that moving to the C7 and then the C8 is wise.

I’ve switched over from ST to HE over last couple of months (I was one of those who lost almost all of my devices in early April and decided I couldn’t handle not having a backup action).  Though tedious (almost 200 devices) the switch has gone very well for me, including the switch to ActionTiles.  (Yes, I had to remap from the ST hub to the Hubitat hub - but it was really easy - kept my existing panels and remapped each tile).

BTW - I’m one who would gladly pay a new license fee after the hub switch.

So far, I have only found one tiny bug - battery tiles don’t have the ‘accent’ (or ‘warn’?) option to change color when they go below 25% as in the ST side.  Small thing, but it was fun to open my battery panel then go around the house changing anything red to green.

Do you want that kind of thing reported here - or is there someplace else I should post it?

Thanks again for ActionTiles!

Alec
