Allow for multiple PIN codes to be used on same Panel

Markl Farkl 7 years ago in Security updated by Robert Gill 2 years ago 13

Currently the new feature allows for just one pin code. Adding more pin codes will allow the user to assign codes to different members of the family or temp codes to guests without needing to share their own code. Individual PINs would need to be revocable.

These are very good ideas to consider and we are definitely looking to make the permission system more robust.

Meanwhile, as a workaround for your use case, consider creating a copy of your panel (panel > builder > menu > copy panel), assign a unique PIN Code and share it with the guest. Then, delete the panel when needed.

Alternatively, you can temporarily change your PIN for the guest and then revert to your original PIN.

Being able to have multiple pin codes would be a huge improvement. I would like to generate a code for a guest to use and then delete it without having to give out or change my primary pin.

Hi Robert,

When presented with the PIN Pad, would you prompt which PIN Code should be used?

Would this be "security level access" kind of thing? I.e. Level 3 would grants access to everything, while level 2 grants access to levels 1 and 2, etc?

I would think instead of the pin being assigned to individual panels when set up, it would be an option under settings or my account. There you add a pin(s) for users with names and then at the panel level you can check to allow the panel itself to use any pin from that list.

I wasn't really considering levels. I would just like to add a guest pin, allow that guest to disarm the system while house sitting for instance, then I can remove the pin at a later point without giving up my main pin.

I have a centrally located wall mounted fire tab running Fully and I would like to be able to assign tiles individual codes. Smart Home Monitor would have it's own code for my wife and I and a separate tile would be for my child when he returns home after school before me. his tile will activate a babysitter routine that disarms the house and has "notify me when" if someone goes in the master bedroom.

I would create similar tiles for guests with different codes all on the same panel running in Fully.

would love to see multiple pin codes supported or at least be able to set different pin codes for different individual tiles in the same tileset or panel!

Any update on this.  I would love to have different pins for family members and guests.  So I can also have a record of who disable the alarm.

interested in this as well

This gets a little bit tricky in terms of functional requirements. Looks like there is demand for logging user access, which would be a neat feature...

Hi Alex & Terry,  It has been 3 years since multiple PINs per panel has been requested.  When can we expect this feature to be released?  Thanks, Lou

I would like to log my support for multiple PINs / User assigned PINs. Perhaps with the work you’re doing on the migration now would be a good time to do this?

Presently, I have tiles that control my alarm system as well as door locks that are PIN protected. I have to give my PIN to anyone that I want to be able to access the house, which is not great. Having multiple PINs would solve this. I don’t even care about access logging - just give us the ability to use multiple PINs for each tile and that would largely solve the problem.
