Logitech Harmony Activities

Justin 7 years ago in Things & Capabilities / Non-"Works With SmartThings" devices updated by Alex (ActionTiles) (Co-Founder) 4 years ago 20

Good Evening,

Love the app! Harmony Activities (not direct integration with the Hub) would be awesome.

They are listed currently in the 'other device' settings when you set your devices and panels because it appears the only supported state is "switch"

If you all could accommodate this device type it would be great!!!

At the moment, the only way to integrate ActionTiles with Harmony is via Harmony Activity Switches.

Hi Justin,

I don't have a Harmony... could you give me some examples of what functions ActionTiles should perform with it?

ActionTiles's focus in on official SmartThings "Capabilities", which are slowly evolving and we will try to keep up with them according to customer popularity. Special devices like Logitech Harmony are difficult to prioritize because only a fraction of our customers have such a device ... unlike everybody who has a "Switch", and a very large number who have a "Thermostat"!

In the IDE any Harmony Activity is listed as having a single capability 'Switch'. I read someplace on your site that a device must have an additional capability to be compatible with ST.

In the ST world, when you turn on the corresponding button with the Harmony activity the activity either starts or stops (on/off) just like a switch.

In other words, I just want this button to mirror exactly what ST does when you enable the button which means to treat it like a switch.

I read someplace on your site that a device must have an additional capability to be compatible with ST.

If ActionTiles is showing these "Switches" in the OAuth "Authorize Things" page, then the Device Type Handler is correct.

If not, then please reference the KB: Some Devices are missing from the Authorize Things (Add Location) screen?

I have 2 harmonys. I can run activities from ST. I can run them from Action Tiles by creating a simulated switch which will show up on AT, then use it in a Core Piston to control the Harmony. Works great, although it's easier to pick up the Harmony remote then to go over to my wall mounted tablet with AT....:)

I can get my Harmony Activities added as switches, after all they are just virtual switches in ST. They seem to work ok, if a bit slow to respond.

Also their state sometimes doesn't change properly, for instance when switching between SKY TV and Fire TV activities, one will stay ON even though it has been switched off to start the other activity.

When I go to AT setup Harmony activities do not appear in the 'Select any or all of your Things' menu. Instead, they appear in the 'Add any or all Things missing from the first list (duplicates ok)'.

Hi Justin.... No message was attached... Please visit the actual post in the Forum by selecting "Click here to Open Comment".

The message says "Error:Device Not Found"

Waiting for Customer

I'm afraid I don't understand where that message is coming from.

Please go the My Locations / Location Page and re-authorize the relevant Things.

Perhaps a useful feature would be to have a tile that groups all the Harmony activities, because even though they are individual switches, one turns the last off and so on. Therefore a tile that pops up all the activities and selects/deselects appropriately would be better than having to have many switches on the panel.

So all of this being said... is there a plan to assist in integrating this ability? This would be really killer for me!

So far it seems as you have stated that we can only add activities, but what would really be nice is to be able to add the hub itself.  Doing so lets you power off everything with a single touch, which is how I use it in smartthings, etc.  Is it possible to add a tile for the hub itself to allow this?

Thanks!

At the moment, I don't see a way to allow us to add the Harmony Hub directly to ActionTiles.

I am trying to find a way to add the Harmony Hub to ActionTiles, I found this discussion from 3 years ago. Has there been an update to it?

Thanks

ActionTiles does not offer direct integration with Harmony Hub.

When Harmony is integrated with SmartThings, a set of activities is generated. They can be controlled as switches within SmartThings and ActionTiles.
